The exit report is supposed to form the basis for the returner interview but as many providers have not supplied one and the ones that are supplied have no information beyond a statement that the jobseeker is "job ready" most are next to useless.

So don't expect too much when you receive yours!

From what you have described thus far it does not sound like you have had the "real" initial returner interview. How long did it last?
No the JC have my report. The WP have lied on it and they will NOT give me a copy!

The JC have had to request a copy from them to give me. I never had an exit interview with my WP and never saw anyone for a review in the last 8 weeks of the WP.

The interview lasted 40 plus minutes then I had to see the National Careers Service for about 20 or so minutes. Then came home and had to do an assessment on the NCS website.

Well after a couple of phonecalls from an adviser asking how I was doing, does this mean I have re engaged with the provider?

I have had a letter this morning for an appointment to attend a progress meeting at my provider, but I have explained many a time that I have been told by the jobcentre that it's entirely voluntary for me to attend as I am only in receipt of credits. I have emailed the provider with a link to the dwp website which has the guidance on for providers, hope they take the hint.
  • I'd spent roughly nine months on the FND and eighteen months on the WP and I can only say all in all I would have been better off watching paint dry.

In eighteen months on the WP I've had one mandatory course which was for a week to learn what an application form was.

The provider in both cases was Pertemps PDG, no faith in them at all.

totally up to you but I think its best you attend, bring proof of your status then tell them you do not want to attend/take part.

Otherwise you'll keep getting contacted whenever a jobs coach tracks their caseload.

I am on a tedious tedious course (MOnday is my 3rd week) about customer service and employability with Learn Direct through Training Associates

the joke of it is my Job Centre advisor has let me off signing for a month because of the bank holiday and "because you didn't complain and whinge about the course"

so I get a reward for not bothering to state the obvious

the tutor openly said on Friday "hopefully next week is SLIGHTLY less tedious than the customer service part of the course"

if everyone involved including the tutors are quite candid about the uselessness of these things why are they spending so much money on them and why are we having to endure them

It's quite sinister how that these courses are obviously just used to simply !!!! people off and punish them for claiming benefits

It keeps the system running for all the welfare & workfare exploiters.

It is sad & disappointing that they don't want to hear & listen to the jobseekers, take in their views, which would help improve things, educate them, help them understand, tell them why things aren't working and it is easier not to say anything & challenge these clueless idiots.

I think the best course of action would be to sign off then they could call all they want, I see no benefit of signing on at all as I get nothing off the state anyway.

seriously this course is like Junior school level - I'm 55 and had to make a poster for an imaginary business and sit there colouring it in with coloured pens

Of course the claimants are in a situation that they are unhappy about so they are not going to be a group of jolly happy people no matter what they do - but come on

at least make the basic content aim for a general standard of adult intelligence - don't humiliate us on top of everything else

These courses seem to be created for basic concepts, nothing complex, challenging, interesting or even useful
