is this diary for the advisor compulsory?
at the wp i was required to show a job log each time i was there. they claimed a sanction would happen if i didnt do this. before the wp i just did the same when signing on and showed a job log. during the wp i didnt have to show anything at the jobcentre. at the moment i am playing safe and filling in those grey forms the jobcentre have to document evidence. i havent had to sign since starting this so dont know if i will have to show it. it may well be the case that a job log will do like before but i am just playing safe.
if they dont record the employers i have applied to when i show it then i will just show the same info every fortnight and just put new dates. this will just help save a bit of time.

Could you fail to attend MWA if you got a hard coded letter from MWA Provider detailing Placement details and start date and time. But no Placements were available and via phone they gave you new details??

Using this section from MWA Guidance

You go by the regulation. If you haven't had confirmation by letter of your MWA placement then you aren't mandated to it. But you'd have to be prepared for the MWA provider to lie and say they had sent you the letter.

Well i was supposed to start MWA today. Went to induction although just saw in the rules that you are not mandated to an induction so i didn't need to go. Anyway she phones me a few hours ago saying Placement had no placements yet when i was on induction they had 8. So MWA Provider said she will find placement today and inform me tomorrow.

So i only have on letter the initial placement details. I guess they have a chance to have them sent out tomorrow and have me start next Monday.

so a question that i have is if someone works voluntary a couple of times a week and then they are placed on the work programme where they have to go in and do job searches does this take preference over the voluntary work ?

i just received a letter stating that i have to go in every day for the next 2 weeks for 4 hours which is going to mess up the volunteer work that i do even though i told them that i do vlunteer work at least 2 days a week at the initial meeting.

yes you will be expected to miss your voluntary work. i had to miss 5 weeks of voluntary work earlier in the year to do a daft course.

they are not encouraging or validating voluntary work because they want you off benefits and that in their view slows it down - whatever they may say

the guy teaching this ridiculous course today told me in the break that when the avalanche of people start to come off the WP and flood the unprepared Job Centres there will be a big push to get people to work for free on Mandatory Work Assignments just to try to reduce the numbers turning up at the JC

he openly admits that the course he is teaching is useless crap and keeps apologising in order to keep our spirits and promising to try and let us go early

it was so tedious today I began to suspect it was deliberately inane as a tactic to send a message that if you don't stop claiming there is more of this to come ad infinitum

they interfere with voluntary work by sending people on courses because they make money from it and it helps them to be seen to be doing something.

I felt exactly the same when I was with the WP, had a call from them yesterday asking how I was getting on. Strange really as I don't have to even have any contact with them.

Well I'm getting sanctioned already :rotfl:

Thought I had longer to complete my "homework" than I actually did. I'd wrongly assumed that I had until my next appointment with my advisor to carry out a task. But apparently it was to be done by the next signing date, even though my advisor wasn't explicit on the matter.

    Lovely!
