That's your choice to make Damalt. But anyone who does give the Jobcentre access is just asking to be sanctioned and as it's NOT mandatory you'd have to have a screw loose to give them access voluntarily!

Do you think it'll stay that way?

They cannot get access under data protection laws, which are due to get tougher in 2014/5. There's also British case law which gives you the right to show your job search activity in any way you choose. So I can't see them overcoming those two hurdles any time soon.

    They have access to mine.

I think at some point it will become compulsory and once they have access they check your old searches/applications. Sanctions will be then applied if your log doesn't show enough evidence of your job searches.
Job searched and job applications are two different things

The DWP need to understand there thousands of more jobs advertised on all the other sites and you would find it hard to apply for 5 a week using the UJM site!

Is there a prospect of obtaining a job at the end of the work programme as there are a lot of negative posts that its just a waste of time and stressful for people. Also is it mandatory for NI credit only JSA/ESA claims?

    Hi lostfoot,

My experience of the WP was very negative as has been many others. Frankly, it's best avoided if at all possible.

See this DWP memo which makes it clear that for JSA claimants only claiming NI credits, the WP is entirely voluntary: www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/work_programme_memo_069.pdf

I would be surprised if ESA claimants are treated any differently in this respect but you'd need to run it past the Jobcentre.

You get the day off (that's what happened during the WP anyway)
They'll make arrangements so you can still have the signing on attended
