The Work Programme New Thread

It is not off topic as the poster who posted said the JC said they have to look for work in Xmas Day Donnajunkie says you should not have to as every office in the UK closes and no one runs a business between Xmas and NY - that's why they are advertising, no!!???
Correct me if I'm wrong but the thread is entitled "The Work Programme". That makes you off topic doesn't it?0 -

this waffle has gone on way too long in what used to be serious discussions....some people just like being ar**y for the sake of it now, trying to prove themselves devils advocate for everything anyone mentions0

My post WP provider saw me yesterday after I had done 2 days of silly C.V. advice classes with A4E or whatever it was
On the Monday I has to also go & sign on as usual after the class
Yesterday he asked to see me on Tuesday next week and I asked "can you make it Wednesday so I can go & visit my elderly Mum who I haven't seen for 2 months"
he said "why haven't you seen your mother for two months?
I was able to answer "because of this! - all these 3 and 4 times a week visits to the JC she lives 3 hours from me and there has been no chance"
He AMAZINGLY then said "do you need longer with your Mum shall we make it Thursday next week?"
I said Wednesday would be fine
I was surprised how kind he was about this
(but is this a ploy to lull me into a false sense of security?)
my Mum doesn't have a computer and is in a small town outside Oxford so I won't be able to log onto UJM for 4 days - do you think this will be a problem?0 -

You have to do whatever your jobseeker's agreement says and as this is the post WP regime I'd bet that you have to access the internet daily. You'll definitely be sanctioned if you don't do at least what is asked on the JSAg.0 -

They have no right to monitor your logins & no right to access UJM.
They should be specifying you take a number of steps per day/week, like checking JC jobs (by UJM/visiting/telephone), so you could phone Jobseeker Direct.0 -
Use the 2 week holiday you are entitled to on JSA (if you haven't already done so).0

However, I would imagine, that there will be a local library you can use. If you are a visitor to the area and havent got a library card they may let you use the computer for a short while on a temporary card.
Also in some libraries they have a computer which anybody can use for 15 minutes without being a card holding member of the library.0
