Just got home from my 2nd post WP advisor session and have been told to allow access to my account. (i thought it was at my descrection).
they are breaking the law but thats the problem how are we supposed to handle the situation. of course we could do things like remind them its illegal. ask for it to be put in writing, ask why is there an option to withhold access if we are all obliged to give access.

unless the rules have been changed, like in the last second, you do not have to give access at all, and if you like you can now sighn into youre account and not allow them access. as i said it really seems to get to them, and im getting sick of getting asked to let them, they seem really desperate to me. the question is why are they so desperate.

ive got my mums wedding this thursday guys and have forgot to even tell them.

Some of their ideas are just cause they have nothing really useful to say.

    Most companies would either

1> not put the call through to the person as they would be too busy to talk to a caller

    or

2> just say 'I will get back to you if you have been shortlisted'

You are putting the employer on the spot with these cold calling hard sell techniques

Exactly. Job ads are always saying about having so many applications you may not hear back. It's daft to call when they not only have to do their normal jobs, but sort through hundreds of applications.

It may only take a minute to answer the phone, but if you have every applicant phoning up that's a lot of time wasted and, as you say, chances are they'll reply with something like they'll get back to you if you are shortlisted. Pointless.

guys do you think i should untick the box that lets them look at my account, every time i go in there they keep asking, its getting on my nereves now, i had i advisor today who was covering for my normal one and she said, oh jenny said you were going to untick the box, i have never said to her i would untick it, in fact i made it very clear i would not, why are they so desperate?

she reckons they cant see anything and only want to do it for jobsearch, and said to give them a chance, untick it for a few days and if you dont like it you can tick it again. not sure what to do now. thing is my thoughts are why should i make there life easier, if they want me to untick it so desperately then why not let me sighn weekly, compromise.you do for me, i do for you type thing, doubt that though.

the reason I have allowed them to see mine is because it's just quicker to show them the job search - also I cut & paste the stuff whereas before I was writing it all out on paper so I find the actual drag of keeping these stupid records is easier - I was writing it all out in a little silly book

now I just went in there and said "I've put my job search on the website" and it was up to him to look at it on his computer

I know leroy28 you have a slightly different set up at your JC

I was asked at least twice that I can recall whether or not I was prepared to give them access to my UJM account so I'm pretty sure it's optional

but forget THEM - if it makes life slightly less tedious for me - why not!

Because that's what they've been told to do, to get people to sign up & use it.

According to IDS it's a revolution, it's a pet project, so IDS/DWP are pushing Jobcentres & advisors to get people to use it, no matter how useless it is, as if jobseekers have never used a job website before.

They are drones, they just follows rules & procedures.

And there is always the crazy thinking that if you're not giving access you're hiding something or not doing enough, even though there are many better job websites and UJM does not record all job applications as so many jobs advertised on it redirect to external job boards.

    It's all a bit silly.

this is a major flaw and as a result i have found myself prioritising jobs that are recorded by the website when you apply for them just so i have a good record of evidence on their incase its needed.

I use UJM even let adviser see what I do to find work, can't say I have ever had a problem with any adviser. Can only ever foresee a problem as I never keep application emails so I cannot print anything off as proof.

I have posted lots of links to jobs that you do not even need an account for as you click a link and it takes you to another site nothing to do with the DWP UJM or Monster and then its to apply via that link to an agency.

This if logged in to the UJM will never show up as an application at all so I do not see the point.

If I do a search there for the last 3 days , 10 mile radius of my postcode there is not ONE job that you apply for via the UJM site!!

PS - why has no one asked why there is no space to attach! d tailor made cover letter?

you can cut & paste from other sites in the "job post notes" in the "Activity History" section

It's 250 words for each entry - don't do what I did and type in all my applications only to find you have to do them one by one:mad:

then you press SAVE at the side and it goes into your activity record and that's what you tell them to look at

The search doesn't actually work or didn't when I tried - it was telling me there were no receptionist vacancies in the Greater London Area!!

when I said this yesterday to my advisor he said "it's crap isn't it"
