    Hilarious, what a farce !

Just clueless idiots who will never learn.

A fictional Claimant Commitment shows how a claimant could be mandated to visit her local town centre twice a week to use Universal Jobmatch on the library computers*. She will also be expected to hand in CVs to local shops whilst she is there.

The other aspect of her claimant commitment shows just how far Universal Credit has descended into farce. How many shops does the DWP are in this town she lives in? Is she really expected to visit them every week, or even twice a week, to hand in a CV? If there’s one guaranteed to make sure you don’t get a job somewhere it’s acting like a stalky weirdo who keeps turning up every other day waving a new CV even after being told there are no vacancies.

And this is the key point. There are no vacancies. Whilst those in big cities could just about get away with ‘cold calling’ and visiting employers for 35 hours a week, in small towns this will be ludicrous. Some of them only have a handful of shops. Some only one. Will unemployed people in remote areas be expected to spend 35 hours a week arguing with their local shopkeeper about why they should give them a job?

you won because your adviser backed you up.
No there were no proof at all that a letter was sent or that I got it

Remember its the WP advisors who fill in a form WP08 to tell the DWP you never turned up with out even talking t you at all. That how they tripped themselves up but NOT telling me I has missed one.

I have just come off the 2 years REED Partnership work programme in London

basically just more policing and it could have been worse but the people were well meaning if a little strange (slightly stereotypical David Brent office types - and that was just the women)

I am due to see someone at the Job Centre on the 24th - and again on the 25th for some reaon

anyone know what is going to happen next?

why can't they just sort themselves out and tell you clearly? It's just so disprespectful

I said to the girl I signed with "will I be coming in every week?" and she said "erm...I'm not sure...I think you will probably be coming in more often...yeah"

    yes or no?

can anyone spead a little light?
  • Full 4 page example of a 'Claimant Commitment' here for those who might be interested. Essentially you will sign and agree to everything, take note especially of the penalty sentences. Take care !

Probably the latest clueless Tory idea of the 'Hit Squad'.

To run people round like idiots, no doubt until Jobcentre lose interest, see it isn't working, is too labor intensive, is stupid & counterproductive, while at same time continuously looking for ways to sanction you.

Can of course be used as preliminary basic test of some Universal Credit procedures.

this is good info for people but its about universal credit and not what happens to people currently leaving the wp.
what they expect to happen is,
    1, increased attendance at jobcentre.
    2, tougher jsa agreement.
3, possibility of things like workfare.
4, you must sign up to ujm.
5, you must be contactable via phone or email.

what will actually happen is another matter. i guess it depends whether they think you deserve to get a hard time or not. also how busy they are will have an impact i think. they will have upto 5 advisers per jobcentre. thats less than most wp providers and they dont see people that often.

It seems you will be the first of the "returners" from the work program, I finish mine on the 7th of July.

I don't think much will change from what they have been doing for the last 20 years, it will be MWA (workfare) or IAP (intensive activity period) in other words the new deal all over again.

great! can't wait! I really resent jumping through hoops for the sake of it for people who couldn't care less or help me get work if their lives depended on it just for JSA and £100 rent a week - just give me the money and skip the hoops and mind games

*OR* : really find a meaningful way to help me get over the barriers that are stopping me getting a semi-decent job

    One or the other

but mind F!!K for the sake of it is degrading and serves absolutely no purpose

and let's face it - they give you the money ANYWAY - just give me the F!!KING money and cut the crap!

I see an advisor once every 4 weeks and the last wait was TWO HOURS so how are UP TO 5 people going to cope?
    That's right, they aren't!!!

There is no room at my JC for anyone other than those signing as the office upstairs is for people 6mths to 12 months out of work and the one of ground floor is 0-6 tmths and those signing and who are on the WP

They have NO PC's to use and how are you meant to attend there to do what???

the thinking is it looks better if you put a name on it. they also think that if you dont put the name of the person responsible for recruitment on it that somehow it wont get to them.
if they want you to do it the old fashioned way while you are there then just play along. its no big deal but it does use up more time so less apps will be done than normal.
uses up more time?? ER no I still have to do the 1 hour job search and I seem to be the only one applying for anything as others sit there and chat and I email my advisor the jobs I apply for whilst I am sitting there!!

I am going to ask where they are getting the ££ from
