no as there is no proof they sent them out and if you are not told in advance they have sent a letter then how are you meant to know its coming?
i have heard of people being sanctioned for not turning up for appointments they didnt even know about. just saying you didnt get it wont be believed by a decision maker. you are reliant on the good nature of your adviser. if they are decent they may believe you when you say you never got it. also sending them out in the post could also result in it clashing with something you have arranged. this would mean you need to ask for a change of appointment. in these scenarios people still on occasion get sanctioned for not turning up for the original one.
by the way when they say they must sanction people for not turning up they are fibbing. at the info session only 4 out of 12 turned up. i pointed out some may not know about it as i had only got the letter 2 days before. as he is one of the decent people working there he said well i have a choice whether to put fail to attend with sanction or fail to attend without sanction. i will put fail to attend without sanction he said.

the best way is to email the person not send a letter at all. they couldn't even agree on me doing 1 letter for each company but as they wanted to print the letters all together I had no chance doing one for each company so they all got the same one which no one checked anyway
well in normal circumstances you have a choice. you can either tailor it to the company or you can just do a general letter highlighting your skills and what you offer. this tailoring to the company is a fairly new thing in job searching. it never used to get mentioned at one time. every now and then someone decides something is wrong and changes it. then that becomes the norm. years ago people used to always put curriculum vitae at the top of their cv. now its a big no, no.

Tailoring a spec letter is not a new thing and I can not print one letter at a time on a shared printer and sit there and write 20, 30 or 40 letters all different as I have no idea who I was sending them too on Friday as they sprung it on me

I have NEVER put Curriculum Vitae at the top of my CV LOL

no the advisor does not sanction you the DWP does after the WP have told them you did not attend

I have had this happen to me where Head office say they sent a letter I knew nothing about and for weeks no one said anything to me and I proved to them the DWP that not even my advisor knew I had missed one as they said nothing to me and the letter never turned up

but if you are waiting on a letter you get all the time then its up to you to chase that up

Here is a question I hope you can help.
I am due to sign off as self emp this month thanks to the business advisor I have from Ingeus. However I have been thinking about future goals and plan to retrain doing either PTTLS or HR CIPD of course one is cheaper. My aim is to be in a well paid job buy a house and be free of dwp as much as possible

Should I sign off anyway and do the training in peace. I am just selling products online ebay and my own website... At some point I will venture into freelance writing. Both require time and effort to build up prophet

Or ask if work programme ingeus can help me get the training I need to get the actual jobs I want.

what do you think is best?
To make money work for me
To save and do great things with the family

Only sign off if u beleave u can make enough for your self and not because some adviser has told u too,why not ask ingeus what training they can help u with first and post back there reply on here.I had a offer off a job and i asked the job centre for some help with funds for the training i needed, 3 months later the job centre said yes but i had to make my own way and pay for the bnb because they said it was 210 miles from where i live to which turned out to be the wrong course any way, the one i wanted to do was like 5 miles from my house. All this time i was saving what little i could to pay for it my self then i got put on the wp so thought i would ask them for some help with funds for what i wanted to do now im only talking about 400 pounds well i got told no right away they said i can only do there in house training which is a total waste off time and will not help u in any way, well i did pay for it my self and yes i am working but in the end it cost the dwp more money paying me dole money than my course would off cost them and that is how silly this has all got,wp private company just wants to make money for them selfs, dwp just wants u gone, the only person who will help u is yourself.

i have had a number of stints jobsearching over the years. it definitely used to be normal to have curriculum vitae at the top of your cv years ago. if there were 2 sheets you would staple them as well. then i remember the done thing changing from stapling to holding the sheets together with a paper clip. then eventually it changed to what we do today.

well yeah obviously dwp apply it. i think its obvious that when he said fail to attend with sanction or fail to attend without sanction he means in one case he refers them to dwp for sanction and in the other case he doesnt and simply records on their system that they didnt attend without contacting dwp.
