are you also expected to phone each company asking them for a contact name? my adviser actually told me to not do specs and only apply for advertised jobs. have copies with you at all times? lol. well just make sure you have some with you incase they ask everytime you are there. when you are anywhere else dont bother.
no they just want spec letter and no need for a name I just put HR department.

I cant have a copy with me of anything as I have no printer so when I am there I will print off 100 copies!!!

had a mandatory info session the other day telling us what to expect when we return to the jobcentre. didnt tell me anything i didnt already know and the info provided could have been supplied on a print out through the post or via our adviser and then they could have avoided wasting time and money doing the session.
apparently the jobcentre expects people to have an email address and the ability to use the net. well good luck with that i thought. i know many people who dont have a clue how to use a computer and dont have access to the net. so obviously dont have an email address either.

well do you really think they are posting them? I don't as its going to cost ££££££

    50p per letter say 10 per person - maybe 150 people a day = 750 people a week x 10 letters =7500 letters and 50p each equals £3750!!!!

Even if was half that its still £1875 or a qtr is £937

So even at say 35-40 people a day its still £1000!!!!

when i first started i was doing specs the old fashioned way in the centre. i dont phone up asking for contact because i hate useing phones and of course its time consuming and costly if you do it at home. the person that used to run the jobsearch gave me grief about it once and said you must phone every company up asking for a name. so in the end i just started doing all my apps via email to avoid interference from the silly cow.

Even with a name you have no proof the person gets it and its a waste of time and time consuming

I asked why not email as you can see they got it etc and ask for a follow up and they said no letters

this is the first time ever I have heard this and everyone on the job search was doing it but its too little too late and its not going to work as I know all the companies I sent ones too on Friday have no jobs

they could be or they are filling alot of bin bags. their incompetence can result in wasting money. mine used to give us our appointments on a little slip while we are there. now they send them out in a letter through the post. i guess sending them out via letter increases sanction opportunities.

no as there is no proof they sent them out and if you are not told in advance they have sent a letter then how are you meant to know its coming?

I bet they are just filling up bags but then they are wasting the paper, envelopes etc and printing.

I will ask about that and how many can I send if they want to be funny I can doo 100

the thinking is it looks better if you put a name on it. they also think that if you dont put the name of the person responsible for recruitment on it that somehow it wont get to them.
if they want you to do it the old fashioned way while you are there then just play along. its no big deal but it does use up more time so less apps will be done than normal.

the best way is to email the person not send a letter at all. they couldn't even agree on me doing 1 letter for each company but as they wanted to print the letters all together I had no chance doing one for each company so they all got the same one which no one checked anyway
