to humiliate, to make money out of forcing people to do a maths or literacy course if they do badly in the tests.

To create "activity", tick boxes that things are happening, so many people doing this & that.

    It's just a game, a gravy train.

Well I have had it officially confirmed to me that I need not attend the work programme as I sign for NI credits only.

But in the same breath I was informed that if I want any training or any help I would have to re engage with the work programme provider. I was also informed that NI credits can be sanctioned if my jobsearch is not upto scratch, something I am not really worried about as I don't believe there will be a state pension when I am due to retire.

if you didnt have enough ni paid in when you retired then you would only lose out if you had more than 10k in the bank, a private pension or some other form of income. otherwise a means tested benefit like pension credit would make up the difference. of course that is based on how things are now.

I agree with this, if anyone asks at the jobcentre for training, or if they can do a college course or in fact ANYTHING that will take up time from their jobsearch, they will simply be referred to the work program early.

NEVER ask for a course or further education, or say you are doing anything other than job searching all day!

they are usually impressed if you tell them you are doing voluntary work. although you get the occasional adviser who isnt impressed and decides to f**k with your voluntary work by sending you on things that clash with it. i know of a person whose wp adviser is like this. even mine made me miss 5 weeks of voluntary work due to a pointless course. whats worse is if you werent doing voluntary work the first thing they would be saying to you is, have you considered doing voluntary work.

I had a review at the WP on Friday and waited TWO HOURS but then there was some confusion (too much to go into and your would never believe it) but anyway was doing a job search too and guess what? It is now MANDATORY to carry a spec letter and copies of your CV with you at ALL TIMES!!

They told me I had to send spec letters and CV's out to companies and would I email over to one advisor my spec letter and CV for them to print?.

I asked 'for what companies, as I would tailor make the spec letter depending on the company'

The reply was 'oh yes I see where you are coming from and maybe that's best'

To which I said 'ok then how many different types of companies, I can do 20 letters all the same or different'

A bit of thinking and she then said 'oh just do 10 of the same'

I went 'really'? 'They will mean nothing to the employer at the other end'?

So cut a longer story short I got 10 random companies from the net and wrote envelopes out and shoved CV and spec letter into them.

She had a mountain of envelopes on her desk and I cant see that if they have 100 people a day doing 10 sec letters that's 1000 @ 50p a time meaning each day their post if going to cost them £500?!!!!!!!!

What a croc of !!!! as they can not be sending these out surely?

I am in Thursday for another lot of job searching and sending these pointless spec letters and have compiled a list of 40 companies and going to ask them if they are really sending them out as 40 would cost them £20!!

are you also expected to phone each company asking them for a contact name? my adviser actually told me to not do specs and only apply for advertised jobs. have copies with you at all times? lol. well just make sure you have some with you incase they ask everytime you are there. when you are anywhere else dont bother.
