Mine is 8 miles away and takes 1hr 30 there and back - what a waste of time
God knows what is going to happen when we have to do 35 hrs mandatory job search. Too much time spent travelling. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Your jsa should have about 3 jobs you can do and that's all you need to do. They the WP can only instruct the JC you have not keept to your agreement and if they said I hadn't I can prove I have as per the agreement I have with the JC, not with the WP.0 -
Anyway going back to them telling me I can get a dicounted travel card they are probably only going to pay me the half price fare and I wont arguee as it's not worth it, but just come home and write a complaint saying I will not attend again unless my money is paid in full as I have to borrow this off someone. Top up £3 and only get £2.80 back.0 -

Like I say I have told them many times I can not get it and they have said I can so I wont arguee anymore just report them.

the only proof I need is me telling them and they not believing me. It's not my fault they do not know the rules but it seems others get the discount card from their jc so I have no idea how that is possible as someone must be on the fiddle!!!

no it really does make them look stupid as you need to ask them things to trip them up.
Mine have told me time and time again I can get a discounted Oyster card and I have told them no I cant as I have been out ot work 12 months or more and the JC wont give the discount to me.
Online at TFL it used to say if you were out of work between 6-12 months meaning if it was MORE than 12 you can not get it. Some people at my provider have said 'oh I get it' blah blah blah but I met a lady who signs were I do and we both can get it.
I was told when I claimed my travel last time that in future I HAVE TO have a discounted card as they will only pay the discount price.
So in the new year the bus is £2.80 return and I only expect to get £1.40
If this is the case I will not argue again but come home and log a fomal complaint about them witholding my travel money
I will include this link where you can see on the 7th line
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14423.aspx
it says:
You are not eligible if you are participating in the Work Programme.
the Work Programme people ARE STUPID and are trying to not pay people the travel in full.
You can only get that one (which includes trains as well) from 6 months up to 12 months, then you have to go back onto the one you got from 3 months to 6 months ie this one, which is just the bus and tram discount.

Edit JCP one was only available from 6 months before but that link now shows from 3 months..0 -

Hmm didn't see that one but the JC still say I can not get one plus I need £5 to get the photos & the WP wont pay for till I get them. I can not afford to borrow £5 off somoene to then go in to the WP to be told (like last time when I tried to claim travel) that they have no £ to pay me! Then what? I tell the person who i have borrowed the £5 from that they have to wait a month to maybe get the £ back!
These cards only seem to last a few months then you need another set of photos lolWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have never had any kind of travel discount.

Yep I know, it's crap but you can def get that bus discount one - they really should pay for the photos too or have a way of taking them at the JC for free.
The advisors at the JC up to 12 months are useless for telling people what they are eligible for as well and as for getting the JCP one that's valid up to 12 months, forget it unless you have an appt with the adviser as none of the other staff are allowed or knowledgeable enough to actually provide one (a lot of advisors argued it didn't exist!). I don't know why people aren't allowed to have the bus/train one after 12 months though like they used to be able to - train fares are ridiculously high.
Also, none of the Oyster ticket stops will load the discount onto the Oyster, they all refuse in my area so means going to the nearest underground station (which means paying to travel there at full price). Badly thought out scheme but then everything is if it's connected to the unemployed...0
