anything admin based, that the kind of work I'm looking for. I've recently completed my BTEC ITQ level 2, but that was off my own back with no help at all from the WP.

Before I got ill again I asked them if they could arrange a work placement for me so I could get a recent reference (I've been out of work ever since my marriage broke down due to childcare problems and an ill child) and they couldn't even arrange anything for me. They said they didn't have enough placements for people who were referred to them from the job centre so they couldn't help me.

My health has taken a turn for the worse and I'm currently claiming ESA so at the moment I'm just trying to get better. I'm back at the WP tomorrow, dreading it :(

After reading this and many other comments on this site and across the internet, it confirms what a total shambles this work programme really is. Maybe Ian duncan smith and his merry men could explain factually what good its really doing apart from giving 2million + a fork lift license or a poxy security guard course.Nothing wrong with either job,its just the same old story, not enough of them required.

I have already wrote to IDS and CG when he was part of the shambles and never got a reply that made sense at all, just some ramblings from some office lacky about what benefits were on offer!! LOL

  • not happy with mine. i am going to have to give up my voluntary work for a month to do a crappy course where you sit in a classroom being taught the bleeding obvious. i have now been told to apply for jobs that i am not qualified for if i happen to have some transferable skills. she claimed its a requirement for the jobs on my job log to be more varied. i should judge whether to apply on whether i think i could do the job rather than the criteria set out by the employer.

I would complain to your MP especially if he/she is not tory.

There are lots of complaints being made about the WP.They just want to be little people, bully them into some dead end job that pays a pathetic hourly rate and collect a fat cheque for themselves, self serving pigs like the politicians.

They are totally arrogant, and a real shambles.

I did get a reply and its now being added to the rest going into the parliamentary committee who are monitoring the lack of success with the WP. Nothing much will happen but it dosen t look good for ids and his merry men or the WP.They will all have a taste soon of being on jsa at the other side of the counter. Thats the WP staff not IDS etc,lol .They cant find enough work cos its not there, hence they will go bust as government wont shell out another 7billion , although with their arrogance they will give it a good go.:D

But Joe Public believe what they read/see on TV etc and they keep saying it's working but they can not get people job interviews and we are just going round in circles.

  • pretty much every back to work course subjects people to it at some point. even if you have been on the course before and they recognise you they will still make you do the test again. you could have first class degrees in english and maths and they would still make you do it. its partly to humiliate you and partly to get money out of the government. these companies can keep doing this and somehow its us who are the scroungers.

look forward to this as i will make sure i fail 100% in line with the job creation. The state my heads in at the moment i probably would fail quite easily anyway.

I know what you mean, i feel things are getting so bad financially in the economy that the crap will fly in 2013 and especially at the WP as so much money has been poured into this and is obvious to all its a total waste,if it worked we would all be in work. They are now obsessed at the JC to get all volunteering in charity shops and low paid warehouse work, only trouble is it wont pay peoples rent/mortages and will still be-topped up by the tax payer via working tax credits.I think one day they may admit to themselves that its a total !!!! up economics nightmare which no one can put right and will take years to get things going again as we once knew it.

What i really have a good chuckle at is when IDS comes on tv to give one of his "isn't the WP such a great thing" nearly every media channel has a economics expert firing holes in all points of the WP why its not working and why it wont work. I know whos judgement i would trust and its not government.

I would love to do some undercover filming at one of these places so the general public can get a feel for how useless they are (whilst slamming the unemployed for not having any work). I've only been to A4e before and it was shockingly bad and they did nothing of any use (other than maybe to the almost illiterate) in 2 weeks.

Can anyone tell me what to expect from the WP in my first week?? ie how often they make you go etc?

No do not agree with the JC getting you to work in a charity shop as no one has ever tried to do that to me, or at the WP.

If there is going to be a mandatory job search for 35 hrs next year no one will be able to work for free as this will take up the job search time.

My JC have told me to put in a complaint about the WP as a lot of people they sign from the WP are saying the same thing and the manager has advised people log complaints

  • I can't recall the source, but I belevee the provider get paid from the Government something along the lines of £400 for each person they put onto their 'literacy tests'....then they get in the k's for each course they put people on. Can anyone really be surprised that these scum WPs are pushing people about like cattle for their own profit.

Whats ridiculous too, is that when the WP DOES eventually fail, a fortune will be spent on a new idea to replace it....and then the same companies (Ingeus, Avanta, a4e etc) will be the people who will be running it...just like they have been in the past programmes such as New Deal. They give the same turd a polish with some Mr Sheen each year and get the same monkeys back on who just see cash in their eyes due to the governments stupidity

    - you are correct, but its the prime providers, not programme providers who get lotsa lolly
    - first posted in June this year, reproduced here see #2283 - read it ! - then read this
    - this thread took the pi$$ out of me then .. .. I'm expecting nothing more now !
    - try to have a nice [as you can manage] Christmas, best wishes, Richie-from-the-Boro

I've changed my view in the last 6 months, with all its warts, it was capable if funded and delivered properly of making people at least employable. Its now so financially crippled by the chancellor its incapable of doing anything other than continuing to make the prime providers even more wealthy and the idiots who contracted to deliver the WP delivery system financially as well as morally bankrupt. Morally bankrupt because they should have gone public and told the truth, first to their clients being abused on their schemes .. .. and then LOUDLY to the press.

Why I ever expected that ragbag contingent of the 'nasty party' to do the right thing by its people on these islands I'm at a loss to explain. Frighteningly it does however continue to provide the vehicle needed to deliver many 'linked' component parts of these legislative requirements due shortly :
