pretty much every back to work course subjects people to it at some point. even if you have been on the course before and they recognise you they will still make you do the test again. you could have first class degrees in english and maths and they would still make you do it. its partly to humiliate you and partly to get money out of the government. these companies can keep doing this and somehow its us who are the scroungers.
What is the purpose of the tests? I will say I don't know how to read if I am made to sit one, as it's ridiculous that after 17mths they would ask me to do so since I have written a CV and cover letter for them and consise emails to them every week with no sign of a need to learn how to read or write. Since I work normally in an accounts office I am sure a maths test would be hard for me too! LOL

theres no common sense involved when they decide to make people do it. you would still have to do it despite your experience. whats the purpose? well they say it is to ensure everyone is upto a certain level. if you failed you would no doubt have to do a course. i can sort of see a logic behind just making everyone do it because if they didnt it would then be obvious that if they make you do it they are saying they think you are thick. whats not excusable is making the same people do it again year after year. it should be like i said. once you have passed it you could get a card to show in the future so you dont have to do it again.

The WP is not meant to be for everyone to a certain level. It's meant to be tailor made so that alone makes them look stupid.

i have been told to just apply for anything i think i can do just like everyone else. i must make my job log as varied as possible or else. i am doing a pointless course in january and as my adviser said everyone has to do it. so theres nothing tailored to the person at all.

it doesnt make them look stupid. it shows them up to be as unscrupulous as they really are.
  • I can't recall the source, but I belevee the provider get paid from the Government something along the lines of £400 for each person they put onto their 'literacy tests'....then they get in the k's for each course they put people on. Can anyone really be surprised that these scum WPs are pushing people about like cattle for their own profit.

Whats ridiculous too, is that when the WP DOES eventually fail, a fortune will be spent on a new idea to replace it....and then the same companies (Ingeus, Avanta, a4e etc) will be the people who will be running it...just like they have been in the past programmes such as New Deal. They give the same turd a polish with some Mr Sheen each year and get the same monkeys back on who just see cash in their eyes due to the governments stupidity

no it really does make them look stupid as you need to ask them things to trip them up.

Mine have told me time and time again I can get a discounted Oyster card and I have told them no I cant as I have been out ot work 12 months or more and the JC wont give the discount to me.

Online at TFL it used to say if you were out of work between 6-12 months meaning if it was MORE than 12 you can not get it. Some people at my provider have said 'oh I get it' blah blah blah but I met a lady who signs were I do and we both can get it.

I was told when I claimed my travel last time that in future I HAVE TO have a discounted card as they will only pay the discount price.

So in the new year the bus is £2.80 return and I only expect to get £1.40

If this is the case I will not argue again but come home and log a fomal complaint about them witholding my travel money

I will include this link where you can see on the 7th line

    http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14423.aspx

    it says:

You are not eligible if you are participating in the Work Programme.

the Work Programme people ARE STUPID and are trying to not pay people the travel in full.

they are conning people and like all con artists they are hoping you wont suss them out. mine tried to con me by saying because the jsa agreement requires people to be willing to do a wide variety of jobs that that means your job log must always have wide variety of jobs on it. i argued for a short while and realised they were never going to admit they were wrong and i just humoured them from then on.

Well of course I have sussed them on day one!!!!!!

Your jsa should have about 3 jobs you can do and that's all you need to do. They the WP can only instruct the JC you have not keept to your agreement and if they said I hadn't I can prove I have as per the agreement I have with the JC, not with the WP.

Anyway going back to them telling me I can get a dicounted travel card they are probably only going to pay me the half price fare and I wont arguee as it's not worth it, but just come home and write a complaint saying I will not attend again unless my money is paid in full as I have to borrow this off someone. Top up £3 and only get £2.80 back.
