My WP provider has a wall with the names of people they have got back to work. I call it the wall of shame, as it shows the WP isnt working, they have got about 30 people back to work in over a year. The office is packed with about 50 people, all day long, and my adviser has 400 clents on his books,so they arent doing much.

As for this proposed work for your benefits, I think they will have problems with Euro court over making people work a 30 hour week for 70 odd quid, it breaks the Govt's own minimum wage laws for a start.

Maybe that's just 30 people who have got a job. Can they prove the WP got them these jobs? No!

I know it's not much of a comfort but at least they can't threaten to sanction him if he doesn't agree with what they tell him to do ;)

they can if the NI is being paid and that's the only reason you would be on the WP with no other benefits. They can stop paying it!

Oh I know, they would have found work anyway as all my WP provider does is let me use a PC to do job searches, which I do at home anyway. If I find work they will get credit for it and be paid, but I would have found that job anyway, without their help, so they get paid for doing nothing, thats why there are so many WP providers joining the gravy train.

Oh I didn't realise that I thought that NI still get paid even when someone is being sanctioned and it was only the physical money that got stopped.

Why don't people just sign off then if they get sanctioned?

not if you withdraw consent for them to contact your new employer and refuse to tell them who it is anyway ;) Which is exactly what I plan on doing when I get a job.

If you get sanctioned from what I gather you get nothing at all. No NI contrubtion either (unless someone else tells me otherwise)

If someone can't get JSA say because they have a pension or something they still sign on to get NI contributions and then still have to go to the WP

If you get sanctioned why would you sign off? When or if you claim again you may just start back where you left off.

WP providers get around £1500 when you get a job and if you stay in employment for 12 months they get a bonus of upto £15000!
