There are a lot of Brits in Zimbabwe though haha
if they are brits then they are ok to work here. however they may have a strong african accent. they may not have a provable work history in the uk etc. so there would be enough reason to ask them just to be sure.

But you are ok to work here from any EU country but how would they know where you are from if they do not ask you to prove it? I could be from Bulgaria but I can't work here without a visa. I could just say I was from Poland or something. Or have a fantastic English Accent like someone I know who was born Australia. It's better to ask for all the documents.

How would you doubt someone with an English accent though? I have always been asked for all documents to prove who I am and where I come from.

you are forgetting the other things i have mentioned like a provable work history. if you have always been asked it is because those companies have a policy to always ask. its the jobsworth mentality in my opinion. afterall i am being asked for id on this course when it is clear that i am who i say i am. they can easily fib but refuse to.

They can have a work history like you but have never been asked to prove it?!

Also it's not a jobsworth mentality at all. How many big firms have you worked for? Say ones with over 200 employees? I have worked at places when this came into play directors said to payroll they couldn't ask people who had been at the company a long while only to be faced with an inspection then when managers confronted staff they did a runner and then the company got fined.

British employers cut back on hiring by a fifth last month.

    In today's Telegraph

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/jobs/9337183/Employers-halt-hiring-plans-amid-eurozone-woes.html#disqus_thread

Things are starting to get real nasty out there for professionals. Even
in my own field, Vacancies are down 28% this year alone. From the looks of it, I be spend the winter up here with four months of night and -35 temperatures. Instead of coming back to a Job in the Uk. Few people want to work here in the winter. Hences the vacancies.

After a month I have finally got my appointment letter for my provider, although yesterday I missed an appointment that I knew nothing about until I had a call from my adviser asking where I was has I hadn't got the letter he was supposed to have sent me. Although we did do the catch up over the phone.
  • Been going almost a year now, still at a complete loss at mention 1 positive thing they have done. I've managed to work for just over 1 month in that time (alongside my volunteering).
