It's NOT a course at all. I sign on the line, the guy clicks a few boxes (repeat what I have already done) then I go home! Great use of tax money, NOT!
no doubt some of the people who get jobs will do as a result of some sort of assistance by their provider.

I have a few phonecalls from my provider last week with regards to jobs, just because I have a car they think I am going to go for interviews at least 30 miles away for minimum wage. I told my provider these vacancies were out of order i am totally skint and can't afford the petrol to get to these interviews and when working out the actual pay including travel after being paid i am £30 a week down on everything i need to pay out and that doesn't include food.

I have also said In my jobseekers agreement i am not prepared to work nights and it's like talking to a brick wall when they show me jobs which are nights grrrr. I am considering signing off to get away from this rubbish.
yes like giving them a mobile number telling them you have a car or even a driving licence isnt a good idea if you want to retain as much control as possible over your destiny.

they know I have a driving licence but no car and have commented on how it's a shame I don't have a car because it would enable me apply for jobs further afield, they haven't made an issue out of it though just a passing comment.

if someone doesnt own a car there is nothing they can do about it. however i imagine some would still send people for jobs that are far away saying if you got the job you could buy a car.

I would refuse. My JSA says 90 mins travel by public transport and thats what I'm sticking to. They could recommend a sanction but they would fail because thats what the law says.

i dont think it has to be public transport. i think it is just upto 90 minutes travel. so that can be 90 minutes by car. so the sanction could depend on whether the decision maker thinks it ok for them to say you could buy a car if you got the job.

It is as it says on the JS Agreement BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
Let the decision maker buy the car, and pay for drivinglessons then. Oh yeah a quicker way to work is by helicopter! lol

no its definitely by public transport (they use your local travelline site to work it out) I've had this confirmed to me by 3 separate advisors and my neighbour who works for the DWP.

It's the way the DWP determine which offices their own staff can travel to as well. My neighbour was commenting on how much it was costing her to go to her new office and how she was unlucky that it was just within the 90min travel time, I asked where her office was and when she told me it was just 12 miles away I asked why it took 90 mins because she drives to work. She laughed and said no it's 90mins by public transport, and then pointed out she could get to Leeds which is about 80 miles away in an hour and a half so obviously people aren't expected to travel 90mins by car each day. (felt a bit of a twit when she pointed that out :o:rotfl:)

IF I had a car and wanted to drive to work and the 90 mins is by car too (which is isnt, its distance and time only comes into it when you talk of public transport as they are making you looker further) I could get to Northampton or Brighton! lol
