It's NOT a course at all. I sign on the line, the guy clicks a few boxes (repeat what I have already done) then I go home! Great use of tax money, NOT!donnajunkie wrote: »yes in some cases being on the course wont have made a difference.0 -
I have a few phonecalls from my provider last week with regards to jobs, just because I have a car they think I am going to go for interviews at least 30 miles away for minimum wage. I told my provider these vacancies were out of order i am totally skint and can't afford the petrol to get to these interviews and when working out the actual pay including travel after being paid i am £30 a week down on everything i need to pay out and that doesn't include food.
I have also said In my jobseekers agreement i am not prepared to work nights and it's like talking to a brick wall when they show me jobs which are nights grrrr. I am considering signing off to get away from this rubbish.0 -
im a single dad,and they gave me a job to apply for on nights,4 ,10 hour shifts 9pm while 7am,for minimum wage,(what happened to shift allowance),any way i worked it out i would be worse off ,so i fluffed the interview.0

what did they expect you to do with your kids while you were in work? I don't know many childminders or nurseries that do over night childcare!simson3325 wrote: »im a single dad,and they gave me a job to apply for on nights,4 ,10 hour shifts 9pm while 7am,for minimum wage,(what happened to shift allowance),any way i worked it out i would be worse off ,so i fluffed the interview.0 -
i would have to leave him on his own,hes 120

thats disgusting. I know there is no legal age on when you can leave your child alone, but the NSPCC recommend that children under 16 shouldn't be left alone over night. 12 is FAR too young.simson3325 wrote: »i would have to leave him on his own,hes 12
I would make a complaint if I were you, asking you to apply for night jobs when you have a child too young to be left alone at night is wrong.0 -
i told my adviser i did not want nights, but i had to apply,
they are not bothered about you and your circumstances,so im not bothered about them,if i dont want the job ill make sure i dont get it,0 -

I asked about courses and they said I could look online at a certain site and if there was funding I could do Excel (I am intermediate already) and when I asked if it was advanced I was told 'no' and I said well I am intermediate already so what use is that. They giggled and said 'erm no point you doing it then'!
It really is a joke!!
Lol, sounds exactly like how A4e/Working Links were when I was on New Deal. A waste of time but free tea and biccies at 10. :j
Think I'll just make an alt e-mail account and adjust my CV so if anything does happen to my account, it'd be limited to just my jobsearch at the provider.0 -
what if people have appointments on an afternoon? how do they get their expenses? why do they have only 1 person allowed to pay out expenses? why cant each advisor do it at the end of each appointment? they are questions i would be tempted to ask.Update from my provider:
From the next appointment no travel will be paid out before 11am and only between 11am and 12pm. I asked when do I get my money then as I am leaving now (12 mins after I arrived). The reply was 'you are all meant to be doing a job search' to which I replied 'I have never been told that and I have nothing of the sort in writting and if that was the case why wait till now to put it into practise? The reply was 'we have been slack'! LOL
I went home and emailed the manager my concerns about searching online (and being made to stay till 11am) when I am looking up to 2am in the morning so not sure what they think I can find at 9am and that they only want 5 job applications from me but I can provide at least 50 a week. I also said I was not 100% happy logging in to my accounts and not having access to my CV file, references and email account on their PC's.
Well cut a long story short they replied and said I would be exempt from this and the main reason the travel is not going to be paid till 11am as the person in charge of the petty cash doesn't want to be stopped 100 times for money during the day! See damned laziness if you ask me and blackmailing people to stay to get their £. If you have an appointment at 10.45 you wouldnt need to stay but if you are there at 9am or 9.15am you have hours to wait for your money.
