Kids have gone to school, we've had some real issues getting little one to go recently, he was hiding in his room again this morning but we seem to have figured out why eventually. The work is too hard (this will be reading as he's really struggling with it, possible dyslexia awaiting assessment) this is also the reason why he keeps breaking his glasses (he says they don't work as he still can't read bless him
) and that the teacher wouldn't let him go to the toilet making him wet himself. I've been in and had words with the head this morning about it all.
.
How old is he? We are having same problems with reading with our grandson and he is also about to be assessed. Have you also asked them about ? [forgotten its name...its where they need a coloured overlay or coloured glasses as black on white makes the letters move around]. In my experience quite a lot of kids suffer from that and very often don't get diagnosed. Had a lad recently who wasn't diagnosed until 6th form and suddenly reading became so much easier for himWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Morning all.
Happy birthday Churchmouse.
Beeyoootiful day here. Freezing cold, but blue skies.
Unfortunately DD and I are stuck in the house. We're waiting for a delivery. I just phoned to see if they could tell me morning or afternoon. Nope, anytime between 8 and 6. Apparently the driver does call 1/2 an hour before to say he's coming. Not a lot of good! So DD is going to have to miss playgroup - I think I'll get her making biscuits.
Thriftlady - I've been using WW online. Slowly typing in some recipes so I know the points of some old favourites. Congrats by the way (weigh! soz)
I'll check in later - be good."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
I'm lucky to be in contact with a guy called Ian Jordan, by chance of course as my oldest has Autism and youngest going through assessment now aswell as the dyslexia, who has done loads of research into the coloured lenses etc http://www.visualdyslexia.com/recognising.html there is some things on there about visual dyslexia including
Little ones only 6 and it's hard to get them assessed that early, we're still working on CVC words with him and it's just not workingDisplacement diplopia (where a letter or word or line will move to a different position and superimpose itself – found in about 10% with visual dyslexia)
Unfortunately NHS doesn't support Ian's work with his company, and the travel, plus the costs of assessment, are in the hundreds, trying to save up now to have them both assessed by Ian. One day I might be more organised...........

Morning :hello:
Happy birthday Churchmouse! :bdaycake:
Busy day today. I am in the office at the moment. I am doing a mystery shopping job at lunchtime - my boss is in a meeting all day so won't notice if I'm a little late back
Then this evening I have free tickets to the opera because I am supposed to be reviewing it for a website I've just been recruited for. I think I'm going to have a late night, as I will have to key in the MS questionnaire and type up some notes on the opera to be turned into a proper review at the earliest opportunity.
In fact it will be a busy week! Tomorrow I am having a singing lesson, Wednesday I'm meeting PenPen & Shez & MushyPeas for lunch, Thursday I think I am supposed to be going to a gig (colleague's band), and Saturday is the London OS meet. I have a zillion other things to fit in too... not least making good use of the humungous quantity of gorgeous veg I picked up on Saturday. Tomorrow I should be home early enough to do a batch of soup (probably the sweet potato one from the soup book that came in the Book People pack
) and Wednesday evening will be the great experiment with the Gillian McKeith aduki bean stew and millet mash with onion gravy  (Thinks: MUST remember to put the beans in soak tomorrow evening!) I am glad I already have so much nutritious fresh stuff - this week is going to be expensive so I am pleased I won't have a huge grocery bill.
Quick question: can somebody please tell me where to buy arrowroot? I am within reach of Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Somerfield, Lidl, Aldi, Netto, Borough Market and a couple of health food shops. If I can get it in the supermarket which aisle would it be on?
Made THE MOST GORGEOUS carrot and coriander soup last night. It was this recipe.
Breakfast: Pain au chocolat (yellow stickered)
Lunch: final portion of Friday's mushroom risotto
Dinner: Probably toast with cheese & beans as I am going out and won't be back till late.
Have a good day all

off now to feed the birds in the garden0 -
Twink, that's something I dread, the kids get sent home again from school, but of course the kids love it. When asked if I like snow my response is 'It's cold and wet, what is there to like apart from it makes the garden look tidy'
One thing that does worry me is there is loads of little lambs around here, born a tad too early, and these cold mornings and possible snows some might die
Reards to Queenie I was thinking the same thing, it's been a few days now, hope all is ok in the Queenie houseOne day I might be more organised...........
