Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread
after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hi Amie, and everyone to follow :hello:

I'm still up! Ok I don't need many hours sleep and I had a long lie in this (last?) morning, but still. Had a quietish weekend and now I'm all set for the week.

Work will be in fits and starts as I have surveys at all hours over the next ten days or so, but that leaves me plenty of time for doing my various bits and pieces.

Today I made and inventory of all foodstuffs in the kitchen including spices, herbs etc. Allowing for having to buy milk and vegs/fruit, I have enough food for the rest of the month: cereals, pulses, pasta, rice, tomato puree, oil, garlic, tuna cans, some frozen quorn, some tofu and whatnot. All this will be used - making space and saving me money.

This Old Style malarkey is slowly ruling my life

    I like it ;)

    See ya all!

Yes, it's our lovely Churchmouse's birthday today!! Have a lovely fantastic day Churchmouse - I know your OH is whisking you away for a romantic holiday later this week to celebrate your special day, but I hope you can do something indulgent today to mark the occasion as well.

And if that wasn't a special enough reason for us to raise a glass...AussieLass and her husband AussieLad....have started their journey to the UK!!! Hurray!!

Meanwhile life in SnowyOwlVille is still pants...Nuff said.

    TO YOU CHURCHMOUSE.

    Good morning all,

I hope you are well and <<<<hugs>>>> to anyone in need.

Yesterday was a funny old day, the hangover didn't help either. Only got one window and nets done! all other jobs sorted though.

I have slept badly again, OH is making plans should anything happen to him and it is quite upsetting to listen to him We are sorting the school this week and he's talking about giving up work as he currently feels he doesn't want to go back, and then he can look after the kids when need be.
The only good thing about this all is that he hasn't touched a fag since that day and doesn't need reminding to take his pills any more.

Work today so will tackle the rest of the windows later and whatever else crops up. Must get going.

    Have a good day all.

    Smoky. xxxx

    Happy Brithday Churchmouse

Up early this morning to wave off my ddad who is driving back to Holland this morning. My dsis left yesterday for Canada so it's been a bit of a Cryfest in the Stefejb household.
What a week! relatives from overseas were not my only visitors - 21yo dd was visited by debt collectors on two consecutive nights which led to a showdown of massive proportions - some of you may even have heard it! The result is that rather than let me help her she has decided to leave home.
Showdown number two came when my dssis and ddad went to my dbro's for a couple of days - exdh decided that it would be nice if i could go for the last day and came here to look after 10yodd. I told him that I would be back by lunchtime the next day. Disaster! 10yo dd was sick in the night and couldn't go to school the next day. Exdh was flummoxed by this and was informed that he would have to do what every Parent in Charge has to do and take the day off - he has never done this before even when we were together as his job is - ahem - More Important Than Mine. yesterday he came over with 21yo dd to pick up some of her stuff. i left them to it and popped out for an hour and came back to find him enjoying a nice bath in my house
Apart from that it has been a wonderful week. my ddad went to visit his sister and while they were on the London Eye they were talking about shows they would have liked to have seen especially Spamalot. A lady in the same car then came over and offered them two tickets for that evening that she was going to try to sell back to the theatre as two of her family hadn't been able to come. She sold them to them at face value and they had a wonderful time!
well dd is still sick - she gave the bug to dgs over the weekend and it seems that he has returned the compliment so it looks like i will have plenty of time to put the house back in order.
    Have a great day everyone!

Morning. The weekend over, it's hardly missed when you have to work. Although today means making sandwiches for 4 kids' packed lunches. It's a real chore and I hate it. I have a fairly busy day in store today, so hopefully it will whizz by.
Yesterday was dull and I had to pass time by looking at Boscastle, The surfers at Polzeath and the hills of Bodmin moor. Tough life is'nt it?????
I have to think about decorating my office this week. It looks a mess and so I am lookinf forward to a change of colour and some new carpet.
Well that's all folks... sorry not very interesting is it?

Snowyowl, here is a hug from me coz you have been sounding a bit down in your posts recently :grouphug:

Very frosty here this morning. Don't really want to go out but needs must I suppose.

Work all day so not much else doing. Have taken a bag of something out the freezer for dinner. Will find out later what it is.

Off to make some my packed lunch now.

    Bye
  • Good morning all.
    Happy Birthday Churchmouse.

Slept really badly last night due to having a cold, kept waking up etc, about 3.30am I got up and went downstairs and put the tv on and feel asleep again, eventually.

Need to get to work early today as I've got 3 people coming in for interviews, not going to be good when I feel like this. I was going to prepare for them yesterday, but didn't feel up to it, so I'll have to do that when I get into work.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning all,

Am running a bit late this morning - set 2 alarms for 5.30 ad neither went off  Fortunately OH's alarm went offf at 6.30, but now it means I have to leave at 7.15 'cos I have to go get petrol.

So I hope you all have a good day. When i get back tonight, i need to finish off cleaning the flat ready for the inspector
