I sent a dozen laptops recently via Collect+ without a single problem.
These are high value items but nothing has gone missing.
I think there is some serious trolling on MSE, be it Collect+, MyHermes, Parcelforce etc. Look closely and you'll find individual cases of a lost item or two followed by a negative diatribe.
Honestly some of the comments on here make the provider look like a second class firm but they are of course a professional, nationwide operator with all the hubs, delivery codes and the like.
The fact is, Collect+ is the quickest process to send - the website is mega quick, just enter a post code, name and number and then pay via Paypal or card. Other websites are still asking for loads of details like dimensions and all that nonsense. Collect+ have streamlined it brilliantly.
When you drop at the shop, you receive a receipt with the recipient's details on it. It's clever.
The tracking is excellent - send the buyer the URL link, tracks all the way to their door. Better than entering 20 digits on competitor's sites.
I preferred this to MyHermes, where some scruffy bloke walked off with my laptop and no receipt. I had no evidence that the item was even collected if it was lost. I wasn't impressed.
Honestly, I found Collect+ the slickest system I have come across.
I agree. I use it purely for the convenience. Enter postcode, name, pay and your good to go. The fact that they accept paypal is a bonus also. I then drop at the shop along the road, job done.
My only issue is the tracking as per my earlier post, its all over the place.0 -
Yes, and another example of Collect Plus saving people time is the 3 options - jiffy, small package and large package. 3 simple price points.
When you sell on Ebay you know exactly what it will cost you - regardless of box details...
Meanwhile Royal Mail have a TABLE of information with various sizes and weights going up in tiers of 250 grammes! The table is out of date in no time... hilarious. Imagine the time and money Royal Mail would save if they offered 3 size options...0 -
ordered package through ebay last week sent monday says its been delivered today.
funny thing is the friend who it was to be delivered to was out in his front garden all day and no packages turned up. this would be the second time in 4 weeks lve been messed around.. by sellers... one took my money then closed his accounts and ran second was very helpful he did sing praises about collect+ and l was assured home delivery.
currently £59 out of pocket and l had no clue collect+ would be used.. if l had a choice ld would have used another company ld also stear clear of a company called DX took 4months to deliver a flash drive which eventually arrived by royal mail.0 -

This would have no bearing on you losing money if you paid by Paypal.
With the second, I suggest you liaise with them regarding the status of delivery and appeal against any decision that it has been. You will lose an INR claim initially but should get a no fault refund on appeal.0 -
I used collect+ for the first time this week.
Used the 3-5 day delivery option, dropped it at my local shop at 12pm monday and it was delivered at 1pm tuesday. I'm happyS.P.C member 1662 - target £3000 -
In defence of Collect Plus I used to send a couple parcels a week and even though it was suppose to be 3-5 day service it was delivered next day. I stopped using them because the shop I went to the owner started to moan and complain about the parcels.
The only time a parcel went missing was when I was given the wrong house number and after several failed attempts to deliver was returned to a depot where it vanished. I received a full refund for contents value and cost of posting.
Couriers seem to be like insurance companies. Everyone has a horror story and google reviews of any company and a majority will be negative. I guess we only left feedback when things go wrong.
I prefer My Hermes. My Courier is really lovely and always scans them in front of me so I know they have been put into the system. The first time he went on holiday I had a bit of a nightmare with the replacement courier not turning up till 3 days late. So now when he is away or I can't wait in I drop them off at different local shop that takes Myhermes parcels.0 -

Well said.
I have had positive experiences with Collectplus deliveries and poor experiences with Yodel and Myhermes, but that was down to the individual drivers, not the national company.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hi Newbie here,
I sent a mobile phone as a signed for delivery with collect plus after selling on ebay, a signature was apparently provided but not the correct one or to the correct address. The ebay buyer has raised a claim through collect plus and through paypal for non-delivery. However with the tracking code that I have, the item is shown as delivered?. I called collect plus who told me that "The depot have since advised us that this item was delivered to an incorrect address. The driver has attempted to retrieve this item; however, the retrieval has not been successful." They also told me that they could only compensate me with a maximum of £50 (less than half the value of the phone). Does anyone know where I stand with this?. Its seems unfair that they have admitted it is their fault and yet I am going to be the one out of pocket. Please Help0 -

It is because you under insured the item. You get £50 free insurance but for more you have to pay. I think for £100 it is another pound or two. I do not think there is much you can do apart from just accept the £50. If you ask for more they will just tell you that you should have paid for more insurance.0
