Those cretins at CollectPlus now have this on their website:

Due to exceptional demand, parcels sent after Thur. 15th December are unlikely to arrive before Christmas

    http://www.collectplus.co.uk/news/?page_id=183

That apparently did not appear until AFTER that date!! Unbelievable!

There is an obvious typo there, as it should read:

Due to exceptional incompetence, parcels sent after Thur. 15th December are unlikely to arrive before Christmas

I've got a new slogan for their website:

CollectPlus: The THIRD RATE service brought to you by the clowns YODEL and PAYPOINT!

That message appeared last Thursday as I checked the site on Wednesday and it was not there but Thursday it definitely was as I mentioned to my customer that the message was now there.

Thats because Collect+ is ran by Home Delivery Network an awful company. These and Hermes I wouldnt touch!

I started a Yodel thread a week or two ago and as it has the same company background there is a major problem.

It was touched on on Radio 2 yesterday with a journalist saying she wouldn't do internet shopping at Christmas because of delivery services failing.
If I remember correctly HDNL was the delivery group used by the Littlewoods group for delivering catalogue orders.

My understanding of how they deliver is if an address is a little out of the way they don't bother, I can't say I blame the drivers as they appear to only get 50-60p per parcel for delivering, so if they're going ten miles out of the way in their crappy vans it will cost them more than they'll get back. It seems that Amazon and John Lewis and O2 orders aren't treated any better judging by the amount of complaints those companies get for using Yodel and their related companies.

Just checked my tracking- nothing has changed and the tracking still says there is an issue with parcel that I need to phone up and address.

Is Yodel also part of the Collect Plus family? (You can tell I'm not good with this courier lark)

Only my Thornton hampers are due today and I paid extra for them to be delivered today as I knew I could wait in- just checked the tracking and it shows they are in Sheffield- but i'm in London :(

I was hoping to have them as one needs to be delivered by me in person tomorrow. Still, it's only half past 3 so I've plenty of time for them to arrive- haven't I?

  • Thorntons are excellent I paid for a hamper to be delivered to my grandparents for their 60th anniversary and it was late. I called Thorntons and asked for a refund and she said no problem they'd refund the postage and I said no I'd like the order fully refunded and delivered (you only get one 60th anniversary and if they offer a next day service for a product such as theirs they should use a better service provider to ensure it actually arrives) she said err, OK and then refunded the full order.

Normally I wouldn't be so demanding and would understand it's not directly their fault (but of course is their fault on which courier to use) but a present for such an occasion being late doesn't paint myself in a particularly good light!

Ludovico- I can see why you were upset when your delivery didn't arrive. I was planning the 'family road trip' tomorrow and the various chocolates were small gifts for a number of people (including the people who looked after my father until his death this year). I thought it was nice to drop by a number of places just with a small gift to say thank you and a Merry Christmas.

Last time i checked my outward parcel had not been delivered nor any attempt made.

My Thorntons parcel has not arrived, I spent 40 minutes on phone to Thorntons and their blasted piped music, they told me they would phone courier and check- and cut me off. Thorntons are now closed until tomorrow. So my brilliant idea of upgrading the little 'thank you gifts' to Thorntons instead of the usual boxes of Roses or Quality street turns out to have been a lousy idea. First thing tomorrow I'll have to brave Tesco and see what chocolates they have left and worry about the THorntons if it ever gets here- which frankly I am beginning to doubt.

Oh and a real warning this time- Collect Plus website is completely down now, I do hope that isn't something that we should be worried about

Collect+ are owned by YODEL, and as YODEL (formerly HDNL) trucks drive by night there is almost no chance of getting your delivery, you may be able to phone your depot and ask for it to be delivered by 9 tomorrow?
