If it were me that had been screwed by a delivery company and was given a free delivery code as "compensation", I'd be tempted to send a box of bricks to myself as some form of "payback", i.e. "not letting the b'tards get away with it."

I'm a fairly laid back person, but strangely enough I have actually had thoughts along those lines.

I have these codes and was wondering how best to use them just to use them really- obviously I couldn't trust anything of value to such an outfit- but i had wondered about sending lots of my really old vintage books the ones I usually take to local charity shops to one of those specialised Oxfam charity book shops where they charge uber money to buy.

I don't have a use for old books but Oxfam could get real money for them- but they can weigh a ton. Then if they got lost I haven't lost anything and as Oxfam would not be expecting them they wouldn't really lose out either.

Thank you, very kind. I'll double check what weight limit I have on my code, and when parcels commence again and be ready to go. I've got some very nice 19th Century foreign language editions of something or other (to do with war) and I am sure they are valuable in the right hands.

  • I have over 20 claims with collect + ranging from parcels lost in depots to parcels thrown over back fences and no calling card left. They have nearly detroyed the reputation of my company and urge everyone to steer clear of them. If an address is to far away for the driver he simply wont deliver it. He only gets 60 a parcel so why spend more in fuel delivering it..He wont..

We have had a nightmare with this company over christmas. Parcels going to the wrong depots, parcels damaged parcels simply not being delivered.

Choose another courier company if you want your parcel to get there.

My inward parcel has arrived (quite battered but goods inside all intact) a day late, no apology and no explanation.

My outward parcel still is not there and the message still shows that I need to call as there is an 'issue' with my parcel. This is the same message I got the other day when they said they couldn't delievr it as the address was wrong as there was no house number- yet the address is completely valid as per Royal Mail wesbite and I have provided a map and a photo of the property.

However, I have emailed the logisitics manager again who does respond to my emails and he has said that he has personally spoken to the depot now and said the delay is unacceptable and has promised item will be taken out personally this evening. So if it does get there this evening it will be day 12. So fingers crossed.

Couriers don't seem to work on the same level of customer service or even any level of courtesy as the rest of the world. A while ago I was treated like I had done something wrong when a courier threw a parcel over a fence for delivery and it was stolen, they actually admitted doing it, no apology, just a message to fill a claim which I was then told was invalid.

There seems to be an unhealthy system where the companies are happy to see a certain amount of parcels undelivered and don't care if they get complaints, they'll just ignore them. As long as there are new customers to take the place of the older ones they'll be ok. As for companies like Amazon using them sadly, if they can keep postage costs down they won't mind too much either with losing a few percent, it will all be costed out.

I'm with you on this one blue monkey. I've used them twice and both times have had issues and they are now on my 'not with a bargepole' list.

My latest parcel stayed in the original shop for 5 days, and now on day 10 is sitting at Gatwick as it cannot be delivered as the address apparently does not exist. I have sent them the Royal mail website link showing the property (with the address exactly as shown on the parcel label) as well as a Google earth image (again with the same address as the parcel label) showing the property.

On my own thread I have asked whether there is any official body I can complain to about this company. I'm likely to have to refund in the next day or two so this makes it the most expensive mistake I have ever made in all my ebay history.
Oh dear I wish I had taken your advice, I put your and Bluemonkey's woes down to the Christmas rush, and in order to save my customer a few £ and to make my sale a bit more attractive I booked Collect plus.

I am now on day 3 and the parcel is still at the drop off point, if the tracking does not change shortly I will go in and check with the shop. But it does not bode well.

I have noted the email address Soolin was using so thanks for that. Will keep you posted.
