    Hi

Just thought I'd join in. I did Cambridge a few years ago with success, yes it was hard and unsociable but the results were quick and good. It got me into a healthy weight bracket which I have managed to maintain the past 3 years. I have been trying to lose more weight and do find that being smaller makes it harder, takes a lot more time to lose so much as 1lb :(. This year I am focusing on healthy, calorie-controlled eating and exercise, I aim to make changes which I can carry on with long term without the need to resort to drastic diets every time a holiday/event is coming up.

Its not easy though and I am struggling to make a meal plan which doesnt involve spending a fortune or wasting food. I know it can be done, I just have to learn how.

  • Whilst tidying my things just found an old Weight Watchers weigh in card from 2008 and realised I did a lot better than I thought - it was both depressing and uplifting to read. I have joined WW online before and lost weight but quickly put it back on because I was only accountable to myself. I have to be honest WW does work for me but I'd rather go to a meeting and have esource but that's nearly £20 a month. I can't afford it right now. But I know it works. At the moment WW Online through quidco works out at only a £1 for three months so maybe I should join, try my best to stick to it and then try going to meetings in a few months when my finances are better. Just wish monthly pass was cheaper!

CD and Lipotrim do not have any membership fees (plus)
Lipotrim I can pick up whenever I want, do nto have to be any set day/time as it is run via a pharmacy that is open till 9pm and reasonably close to me.

Prefer Cambridge (apple porrige cinamon thingy breakfast and ready chocolate shakes) but if the GP thingy does not work out - will be Lipotrim...

Got no head to count calories, spend half a day in a shop etc...

So gong the easy way, at least first 2 stones... will see...

... but one will not drop weight eating this way.. that is the problem :(

You can if you limit your portions! Lots of veg, small portion of potato and a bit of protein, not that many calories for a dinner. This is just one dinner, not for all the time. Another cheap easy meal - wholemeal pasta with chopped tomotoes, herbs and spices and veg (carrots, peppers, mushrooms, onions) and for a treat a small portion of extra lean mince. Just another recipe, just weigh the pasta so you don't eat too much.

I bought some digital scales so I can weigh out how much things are so I re-learn portion sizes, I think mine have gotten a lot bigger, which is why I've put on weight! lol.

I have tried diet fads in the past and they've worked for a bit, but they've made me put on weight back on when I've gotten back to eating regular food (and not just shakes)

I own scales, but I can't face weighing myself. Besides, my fluid levels vary a lot and it just gets too depressing/demotivating.

Seriously considering putting the SW books back on Ebay-I don't think it's for me.

Am on the everything in moderation/have one treat but then stop diet, I think. This works well for me.

Have been thinking about how my weight is the result of thousands of small choices, and what a difference altering just one of those choices consistently might have made. Say I'd never had a packet of crisps in my life....or only eaten half of each chocolate bar. It's quite a positive thing, really, because if little things add up (going backwards) then they will forwards, too...

  • ASDA doesn't know what hit it.....I have stocked up on basics soups, so there is something better for me than a packet of junk if I am wanting a snack.

Lots of veggies, a little lean meat. Not a lot else.

Have asked DD a few questions as her Dad's OH has gone from a size 20+ to a size 12 in recent months. But she found out she either has coeliac disease or is gluten intolerant (not quite certain, as they differ slightly, I think) - so eats very few carbs - cut out almost all fat and exercises lots, so no magic formula other than eat less and move more. Apparently, she does different types of exercise (swimming and dog walking) but doesn't go mad as she has a history of back injuries. And she takes a few different vitamins and cod liver oil. Meh. No magic, instant, no effort results. Not fair. :)

Wish me luck. I'm off to find my legs under the winter pelt as DD wants to go swimming tomorrow.

If you hear accounts of Greenpeace called to South London, that'll be me.

For anyone who is looking to stock up on slimming items from boots I saw an advert today saying they are doing 50% off all of their diet products. Happy shopping.

Why do I have loads of chocolate in the house left from Christmas! It needs gone!

I have almost a whole box of Thorntons premium chocolates, some truffles from M&S, half a tin of biscuits and some mini toblerones!

My diet starts on 5th January, these next 5 days are preparation. Buying in the right foods. It's only starting then because I have work drinks on the 4th, and it's hard to say no to free booze, as I am cutting out alcohol completely for 1 month, I've done it before. I will introduce it in February, but only occasionally.
  • So far today, I've had a big bowl of ASDA's Special K copy with skimmed milk (not because I think it's a diet food - because I like it) and a salad with chicken - lettuce, cucumber, tomato, green kiwi, golden kiwi, avocado, spring onion. Seems pretty good for me - and I'm not hungry.

And I probably burned off a few calories fighting off the killer kitten wanting his share of my dinner :)
