Hi
I was going to make the title of this thread: New Years Resolutions but then decided most of these are usually forgotten in a few weeks; so change the title to the above.
What will you change in 2012? Mine are as follows:

1) Pay off credit cards. Although they are both 0% APR and not high debts, they are hanging around and i want rid so i can say i am debt free.

2) Lose weight. Yep; i say it every year and start off well. But 2012 is the year i want to definitely lose weight; 3 stone to be exact

3) Stop eating crap. This goes along with number 2 really. But why oh why do i eat so much rubbish! And then feel awful about it afterwards

4) Go to the gym more. Membership is paid for the year and i really need to start making better use of it. Currently go twice a week but really need to go 4 - 5 times per week. Will be starting this while i'm off work at christmas. Hopefully then i won't put on weight over christmas

5) Stop wasting so much money on food. Food that ends up getting thrown out because it's not been eaten. What a waste

6) Be more organised around the house. Why do i put off jobs until they become 'big' jobs instead of keeping on top of them. Would be so much easier. Then i wouldn't end up with an 'ironing' mountain.

7) Organise my time better. Stop wasting hours doing nothing. This will help with some of the other goals above

Phew...... Seems like a lot there. But these are all things i get really annoyed with myself about; so i must change them

    Lovely new thread!

    In 2012 I will -

    1) Start to save money. I want to get a deposit together to get a mortgage. Don't think we will save enough next year, but I want to start and know that it WILL happen.

    2) I want to stop wasting as much food. I throw away loads, it's ridiculous really.

    3) I want to pay my sister back quicker. She paid off my credit cards for me and Im paying her back monthly, currently £300 a month, but I want to raise that.

That's it really. Little things I could add, like start a veg patch in the garden, but hopefully by doing 1+2+3 above, other things will fall into place :T
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

  • 1) Hopefully complete my IVA and get my smile back

    2) Lose weight (3 stone here too)

    3) Stop faffing about and go to the gym regularly

    4) Walk to work (6 mile round trip like I used to do all the time when I got mardy when petrol went over £1 a litre lol)

    5) Actually start to ride my pushbike (had it for 3 years and used it once) so that (4) isn't necessary and should mean I get to work earlier!

    6) If (1) to (5) are achieved, hopefully like what looks back at me in the mirror. :o

  • Oh I like this!

My things to change are going to be:

    1) Start saving! Since I will be DF in a couple of months, I need to start thinking about things in the future. I'm going to Vegas next year and so will need at least 2k for that, and it would be nice to have some money in my savings account so I can feel good about myself.

2)Shop around for a new current account and ISA. I have been with my bank now for 5 years, and I have had a fair bit of grief from them over that time. I'm going to see if I can get a decent ISA as well, put my savings to good use.

3)Quit smoking. I think I may have quite 5 times this year now, but with my OH a smoker too, it's become increasingly difficult. I tried patches, and they gave my terrible headaches, so I think I'm going to have to go cold turkey! I have all the will power in the world, until I see someone else smoking, even on TV, and I'm off to the shop to buy more! This needs to END!

4)Try not to be such a cow. I hold grudges longer than any one else I know, maybe I just need to get over things...

    5)Keep my OH smiling.

That'll do for now, but they are decent goals I reckon.

  • Well mine would be to be debt free & to lose 31lbs!

I shall be a happy wee camper if I can achieve these two things

    Dx
  • nice wee thread :D

    1. I am going to start up a "lose 5lbs a month challenge" and hopefully lose 60lbs by the end of 2012 which I feel isn't too bad a challenge if I can stick to it and stop saying "yes" to all the fine chocolate and crisps lol shops should stop putting them on offer!

    2. pay off my credit card of £300 and hopefully pay off my lowest OD of £242 so I can deal with my last remaining debt and OD of £1000!

    3. Go to the gym more (im at pure gym so its a decent price with free classes so no excuse not too really )

    4. Start saving up for next christmas !!!

    5. Just overall hopefully feel better as a person, a mother and a wife and be happier

I like this thread but it takes some thinking about..........

    1. I'd like to pay off some debt of course - i never really make a big effort so i want to try to this year. I am back on the comp wagon so a few good wins might help :D
    2. Lose weight of course - might as well go for the full 3 stone like the others:T
    3. Make an effort in other things we get very reclusive and unsociable so need to up this a bit more.
    4. Grow the right veggies... i do have a large patch but it gets a mess and i grow ridiculas amounts of one thing and not others, so more planning required here to help cut the food bill.
    5. I also need to cut the food bill, live frugal and not waste food - although my dog is happy about it :rotfl:
    6. Stop moaning about my job and office politics... lifes too short and at least i have a reasonable paid job for the area i live in.
    7. Win the Euro Millions with my syndicate :j

That should do it... might manage one or two of them realistically but up for a challenge.

Good luck to us all

    (4) made me howl ~ and my DH give me that 'you need to add that one' look. Thanks for making me smile :rotfl:

  • Good thread! My goals for 2012 are to:

    1. Pay off my debt - £8605 to go!
    2. Start saving for a house deposit
    3. Lose weight - I've got about a stone to lose.
    4. Make some savings from my grocery budget, I spend too much on food!
    5. Make sure I shop around for utilities, etc rather than being lazy and sticking with current providers.
    6. Drink less alcohol, it's expensive and a waste of money.

I'd also like to get engaged in 2012, but I think that one's outside my control! :)
