For me, 2012 will included:
- to be debt-free and start to paydown my mortgage and have some savings in the bank.
- to complete the challenge I set myself to raise £2012 by Christmas 2012 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust (www.justgiving.com/12in2012challenge)
- to maintain the wonderful relationship I have with my 8 year old daughter
- not to waste food or electricity around the house
- declutter my home
Good luck to all fellow moneysavers and have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ooh I've thought of another one which I've already got ongoing, become more 'active' I suppose you could say in my faith. I've been so busy of late it's kind of fallen by the wayside as far as actually practicing my faith goes so I'm aiming to sort that out
Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I love making resolutions, not just new year's! I don't always stick to them unfortunately but then I usually make too many for me to handle

So what will I change in 2012? A lot!- I will be getting married in June

- After the wedding, I want to pay off all my debt except for our mortgage (Whoever linked The "Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2012" challenge, thank you, I will check that out
) - Once our debt has been paid off, I want to start saving so we have an emergency fund that is not a credit card/overdraft!
- If we manage to get enough saved up, then I want to start overpaying our mortgage, although this may be a 2013 resolution I think!
- I am one of the millions that want to lose some weight, I am doing well at maintaining but not losing so it's time to change that! I was bought a juicer for Xmas so I am planning a Juice detox & will see how that goes. I do a fair amount of exercise already, but the plan is to up that when the weather gets a bit nicer.
- Be more organised - I am already trying to change this & am very, very slowly getting better...Time to up my game a bit though & make 2012 run a lot more smoothly, especially with a wedding to come!
Good luck everyone, I hope to see you all achieving at least some of your goals throughout the next year

Good luck! I know that my anxiety issues have definitely been easier to deal with since I started doing better with my nutrition and supplementation.immoral_angeluk wrote: »I've just started taking multivitamins. I'm prone to anxiety/depression so if taking some extra vits might help I'm all for it!
If you want to make sure you're getting a decent amount of Vit D with your multivitamins, check the package to see if you can tell how much is in there...I take 2,000iu/day. The good thing about D is that you can't really overdose on it, as your body produces huge amounts when you're out in the sunshine, so it's better to take lots than not enough. It should be in the cholecalciferol form.0 -
I want to
a) stop worrying/stressing
b) start living
In between that I hope that I continue debtbusting as well as I am now (or even better), keep the weight off and start having some fun again.
Happy new year all, it's nice to have a clean page to write our futures on x
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -

OOh another good thread.
I did a couple of personal development type courses this year and was taught to make SMART goals - specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and with a timescale. This helps you to clariffy exactly what you are aiming for, to be honest about how much you can achieve and by when - and you are more likely to be successful.
So, my smart goals are:
- To lose at least 7lbs by end of January (need to lost at least 3 stone overall). I will lose 7lbs by eating more healthily, eating less carbs, drinking at least 6 cups of water and eating 2 fruits a day. I will also go for a walk with the kids for 30 mins or do an excercise activity twice a week.
- I will meal plan so I know what we are eating for dinner each week and will batch cook on Sunday mornings for the week ahead where possible - more protein, veg and less carbs at each meal
- I will keep a Life Diaary and update this every day with money spent, meals planned, other household tasks
- I will list at least 10 items a week from the loft on Ebay - will do this on a thursday evening, taking photos on DH's iphone and upload straightaway
- I will sort out a proper monthly budget and pay cash for grocery shopping, which can be done one evening when DH is home with kids. I will spend a lot less in home bargains, and only buy what I need.
I will stick up this list somewhere where I can read it every day and remember how amazing it will be to stick to it and achieve all of the above!
Good luck to us all :-)0 -
I regularly set myself challenges and dont normally wait for the new year.
The end of 2011 saw me lose my job and since then I have been beavering away to take a couple of business ideas to another level. To say it is going slowly is an understatement.
My challenges for 2012 are to spend no more than £100 on clothes for myself for the whole year.
To stop eating red meat - big fry up in the morning as a fond farewell.
To be more physically active daily - either a 2 mile bracing walk, or swim for an hour.
Hoping everyone all the success they deserve with their personal challenges, I am sure there will be lots of support on this thread.

What a good idea, we have had a cracking 2011 - with some large and unexpected bills which have managed to totally mess up the 2011 aim but some fantastic memories and some LBM. 2011 aim was to get 3 x monthly salary in a savings account and persuade OH now DH to be a little more money saving.
We married in May (10 week plan not really a money saving plan!), had to have a major repair work on the house, and went to New York to witness our best friends' marriage. None were planned for but we have not got into debt to do this mostly because of the MSE habits of other half! And we have cleared a massive amount of rubbish from the house so all good there!
However the 3 months salary in a slush fund didn't quite work I am short. On the positive side, DH has taken control of his finances, sorted the credit cards and loans and stopped buying stuff he doesn't need; we have a joint account with 2 months of monthly bills money as a slush fund.
So the joint aim for 2012 is:
to continue with the meal planning, money saving (for both of us)
keep to using the car as little as possible
get rid of the last of unused stuff by ebay or car boot
sort out the rendering on the front of the house and gutters, so it looks respectable again (see note above re repairs!)
correct the deficit in the slush fund
overpay the flex loan DH has to clear that ASAP (quicker than the 5 years it should take fingers crossed!)
start to pay the capital on the mortgage not just the interest
keep the other house rented to pay off that mortgage and give us some retirement income / capital
make some more great memories (Groupon deals with our mates are great!)
I wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2012, and really hope there are lots of great memories just waiting to be made!Start info Dec11
