Hi there I'm a bit late to the party but can I please join in? I'm fat, forty and fed up. The forty bit I can handle on the grounds that it's always better to have a birthday than not! The fat and fed up bits are not so good. I've always been fat (or felt it) and am fed up with it - I just can't go on eating boxes of maltesers and big packets of crisps while watching desperate housewives (how do they do it!). I have 40kg to lose overall, but I'm trying not to think of that. If I can start with 10% which is 10ish kg that will make a big difference. I have a lovely little boy of 2 and don't want him to catch my bad habits, also I had 2 miscariages last year and being overweight really doesn't help with my chances of having another child.
Any hints and tips as to how to not be tempted by those goodies would be great - I've tried not having things in the house, but I can't keep away from tescos!Weight loss goal 22lbs/ lost ? :j0 -
All you great people on here seem to know what you're doing, so I'm hoping you can give me some advice. I'm currently 83kg, but have no goal. I just want to loose weight. I do go to the gym, and use the wii (I seem to get a better workout from this, than I do the gym). What I'm looking for is, healthier eating. Because of work, I can't get to the gym 'til after 6, so I'm not eating until round about 8. I do like a few pints of beer, once a fortnight, and don't want to give this up, as I cut down drastically, and did lose weight (visibly, as I never got weighed). The main problem is meals for lunch at work. I do like rice, and mushrooms. Really, what I'm asking, is are there any websites with healthy menu's that can be trusted. I don't want to join any slimming club, as I don't have the time for meetings, and can't afford it. Hope someone can advice me.0

aaaaagggghhhh yesterday was not a good day!
Restarted the diet after my weekend away and went to play netball in my lunch hour. Managed to turn my ankle crashing to the floor in the process. Cue an ambulance journey ... Turns out that my ankle isn't broken but it is badly sprained and I'll be on crutches for a week or two.
Have to keep my foot elevated and stuck at home feeling sorry for myself - the good thing is that I can't get to the food easily lol.......0 -

hello, i have been trying really hard to lose weight since the new year...i don't follow any recipe's in particular. i have just generally been trying to improve the quality of food that I am eating.
the general rules i'm going by are...more protein, more fruit and veg, and reduced carbs. i have not been cutting carbs out completely, just ensuring that i steer clear from the refined carbs...white rice/white pasta/potatoes etc. i eat brown rice, brown bread, brown noodles and sometimes boiled or baked potatoes. and i am of course doing my best to reduce fatty foods!
my mine issue that i am still struggling with is snacking...am usually ok during the day and stick to fruit and always carry with my some unsalted mixed nuts...but night time is dangerous for me! i get the munchies so badly! still working on that! any tips would be greatly appreciated!Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
My savings: £4878.54/£7000
Joint account savings: £2685.57/£3000
Total:£7564.11/£10 000 (as at 26/10/14)0 -
Add me!!!
8lb lost out of 60lb to go. Thats my first target.
2012 will be the year it goes. It really must. Its hung around for far too long and its getting boring now with me saying "I've got to lose weight..." So flippin do something about it.
To help me along the way I have a picture of an old local childrens home cellotaped over the cards/notes section in my purse. Because this (somewhere like it) is where my kids will end up if I die due to my obesity - there is no-one to look after them. Mum can't manage my 5 kids, my Dad lives in another country, my Brother has 4 of his own, my best mate is not child friendly and the ex is mentally ill and doesn't know what day it is let alone look after our children. My kids will be dumped, fostered out and split up. Sad that I didn't think of this a few years ago.
This lard is going to burn.
Once I hit a size 14, I intend to join my kids group of the adult class of Tae Kwon Do and start pilates. And I am looking forward to it.0 -
Hey to the newbies I shall get you added to the list!
Well I am even fatter than what I was at the start grrrrrrrrrrrr
So starting afresh

thanks miski...i was beating myself up last night for not going to the gym and having a massive crisps binge!! i think i have been pushing myself too hard with exercising...when i thought about it i had actually exercised sunday, monday and tuesday....no wonder my body was feeling ready for a break!
so i'm back to healthy eating today and off to netball tonight. dusting myself off and keeping on going! i could never go to the gym at 6am! that would kill me! x
:T
I go 6x a day but only for an hour/45 minutes at a time because I need to slowlyyy ease myself into it.
I walk, then increase the pace of walking then lightly jog and then in the next week increase the elevation, speed and time. I find my time there has increased even when I haven't noticed until I'm sweating buckets.
General fitness for me needs to be raised before I get a routine going
6am isn't that bad actually. I mean, sure it's painful getting up at 4.45 to get the first train but I've learned to love London early in the morning and the gym is not packed which means I can relax, not panic that I'm taking someone's equipment and everyone is spread out doing their own thing to laugh at the short, dumpy girl struggling with jogging in the corner0 -

Thanks Dolly rocker - it's in black and white now, so I have to do something! I won't count the junk I've eaten today and start a fresh from now:D After all tomorrow is another day!
So has anyone tried zumba - I've been going a while and think it's great - hard work especially if you're as uncoordinated as me - but then everyone else is concentrating too hard to worry about what I'm doing - that's what I tell myself anyway!
I never mind the exercise when I get there it's the getting ready and getting there that I have such a problem with - anyone got any tips on motivation?
The food bit is a deadloss for me too - I can't resist all those goodies especially when I'm bored or a bit fed up. I've got to crack this somehow. All miracle cures welcome!
Have great but low cal weekends!Weight loss goal 22lbs/ lost ? :j0
