Hi all!
I was wondering if you can tell me what you keep your bread in to keep it crusty. I've been wrapping in teatowels(clean ones!) but it just doesn't stay fresh. It doesn't normally last much longer than a day but if it does it's not really very good for sandwiches.
Thanks in advanceNeed to sort my life out! :T0 -
Oh no! I've just found this thread and could have done without seeing it.
I'm very proud in that I made a decent loaf by myself yesterday without the breadmaker - first time one has been edible. I'm not sure where the recipe was from, but suspect Thriftlady (thanks).
NOW I've got to go and play with some more dough. These recipes look stunning and do-able by me with a fair wind.
Many thanks to you all.0 -
I trying my first hand baked loaf today and so far not so good - bloomin thing isnt even in the oven but hasnt risen at all

Taffy I keep mine in a large lock and lock. Airtight should help?
Elf - I wouldn't let today put you off. I read your other thread, and 100% Granary is hard to get to rise. I would strongly recommend you use Thriftladys recipe and use half white half brown. Granary is renownedly (sp) bad for rising, especially when 100%.
Really don't worry pet .
This is the recipe Thriftlady uses - Delias basic loaf. Try 1-3 or half brownA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Elf I've had really good results using Allinson's Seed and Grain flour and the recipe zippy mentions -that's using all Seed & Grain flour.0
