What a great looking recipe - thanks Mrs M. But can I be dim and ask if that quantity of dough is for one or two braids ? The lovely picture has 2 and it does seem a lot of flour for just one.0

It makes two braids I can confirm. My boys have demolished half of one in about 30 seconds. I think its a really fab way of using up the fruit that is going soft in the fruit bowl. In the past I have used every kind of fruit. :T
Will try it with cheese and onion now though rosieben.0 -

superpup put up a lovely savoury braid recipe in the same thread, I haven't tried yet but it sounds delicious - post # 2447 here... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Has anyone used other fruit for the apple braid?
Eg if I did it with greengages or plums, would the plums need cooking first?
What about bramley apple and blackberry?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Oooooh I am going to make an apple braid, it looks fab.
I make a savoury bread. Dough, (any old dough) rolled out in to a rectangle, dimple it with your fingers, sprinkle with sauteed onion and toss on some sliced chilli, salt and pepper, drizzle with olive oil, it sits nicely in the dimples made with your fingers, then bake. Yummy.0 -

Oh My God.
Made the apple plait (made two, one for the freezer) and my Daughter and I have eaten a one in an hour!!!
We put cinnamon and nutmeg in with the apples and have decided to call it christmas bread and make it as a snackeroonie in the festive season. The whole house smells Christmassy after baking it. :-)0
