I 've been experimenting, and made onion spirals. Regular white dough, rolled to a rectangle. While it was proving, I caramelised thinly sliced onions with garlic and Worcester sauce. I then covered the dough with onions and rolled the lot up. Cut slices, stood them on end and allowed to rise again. Brushed with olive oil before baking. We ate them with minestrone soup.

Yikes!!! Why don't mind look like PP's?
Think I might have rolled them a bit thinner. The filling is chocolate spread but while they were cooking the middles rose a lot more than the rest so that it is poking out and the chocolate spread burnt before the rolls were cooked. They have even been rejected by my two girls but I am not going to give up. Do you think I rolled them too tightly?? I can't work out what made the middles pop out!!!0 -
My free packs of yeast from Allinsons arrived today so Im going to attempt (I do say attempt :rotfl:) to do some bread rolls tomorrow.
Not sure if it will work as Ive not made bread from scratch for about 10yrs now :rotfl:Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

lbt - if you click on the photo in photoshop and look for the resize option top left corner or so -and follow that and save your changes. It will update the posted pic automatically for you.
Hmm might have been too tight, and might have been too much chocolate? I'm not entirely sure ..... Look yum though!

could you share your basic dough recipe please?0 -
Loving the marmite bread recipe - really dense and yummy with a chewy, twigletty crust
It's calling out for cheese though... I wonder if it would be noticeable if I stuck in a bit of grated cheese... or if I should just make cheese on toast with itMy TV is broken!

Mmmm some really strong cheese would be fab. I love the crust too - I normally have the ends with cream cheese. Have you tried peanut butter bread? That's nice as cheese on toast too. x0 -

Ooh no, please tell
I only have my panny recipe book really - I tinker with the ingredients a little but I don't have any exciting alternatives. I'm totally useless with handmade bread so I don't tend to look at 'ordinary' bread recipes!
Funny... I used to get cream cheese and marmite sandwiches in my school packed lunch - I just assumed I had weird parents
Incidentally I wasn't sure if very hot water with the marmite would hurt the yeast in it? So I let it cool down a bit from boiling... is this necessary? My TV is broken!
