LOL, yeah whatever Soolin, you are soooooo right.

"Might" - such a helpful word. Does "might" = "or might not" I wonder? You "might" as well not bother posting such helpful advice.

Oh, I see you edited your post too while I was posting.

Nobody has to read my posts if they choose not to- but I try to be mindful of the fact that people who do read them could be small turnover private sellers, smaller TRS sellers (like me) or high metal PS (like you). I do not see any harm at all in warning people of the importance of watching their stars.

  • For volume sellers the percentage is what counts, you can have 100 lows and be perfectly fine for TRS if it's less than 0.5% but some sellers are monitored by count rather than percentage, to be honest I don't understand how it works in depth but a seller rated on count will lose TRS if they get 3 lows per criteria or be below standard if they get 4 lows per criteria.

It is worth noting that 1 buyer can not cause you to be downgraded, so if 1 buyer leaves 5 lows for the same criteria that's fine and will count as 1 low during a review. If however a different buyer leaves 1 low on top of this, I think, you now have 6 lows rather than 2.

It is very important to watch the number of low stars as well as the overall rating out of 5.

I am well aware of the impact of low stars, thanks, as a silver powerseller and TRS. Again, I repeat, it is the % not the number that matters. You are probably not a big enough volume seller to have experienced this for yourself, but I can assure you that it's true. I currently (unfortunately) have 5 low stars in 1 category - having had a bad month in Oct when I had a family crisis and dispatch slipped a bit - but I am still below the 0.5% and so it has had no impact on my TRS. None. Zip. Zilch.

I agree perhaps that the eBay guides may read a little ambiguously - giving the impression that 3 bad stars can get your account restricted - but I am just trying to give the "what actually happens" view (which doesn't seem that popular on this board for various reasons).

ETA: PS for the benefit of other readers - one of your links doesn't work, perhaps you could ammend it.

You are obviously selling enough that 3 low stars won't effect your account, however there are probably more sellers on here & ebay who will have their accounts restricted if they don't meet their buyers expectations.
It's a shame that a thread has become an argument because for some reason you have chosen it to grind an axe.

You are stuck with a situation!
In future READ ALL the info and if its not right DONT BID. there are lots of good sellers, source your items from them instead.

Read what information, Nowhere in the listing did it say the seller will not combine postage because they are using the postage to inflate their profits.

    Puzzled by that comment?

How can you read info that's not there?

So i am a demanding buyer that has not demanded anything or contacted the seller and asked for anything.

And i fail to read information thats not in the auction listing?

I bought 4 items, In my won item list they were all separate so i clicked the ask seller for total link and thats it.

Seller responded with an invoice and i paid it instantly. Just wondered what ebay regulars on here thought about the miserly postage reduction.

Its 100% more than advertised so you got a fantastic offer.
I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!
  • When i bid i didnt know i wanted and would win all 4 items. So no i didnt contact them.
Less than 10 minutes left on the auction when i remembered the item in my watch list.

One sold and the others ended with less than a minute between them. So i bid on the next 4
    just in case.
Just curious ,why did you bid on multiple items when you didn't even know if you wanted them?

    Apology accepted.
Everyone's entitled to have their own opinion, however the first post of yours I quoted, makes you come across as a prat.

I don't know whether you are being misleading or if you have a misunderstanding. I am sure there is no malice in your post but whilst it may be correct for you and your circumstances, it is not correct for everyone.

I quit work in October to go full time selling. Looking at my dashboard now I should achieve power seller status this month. On my Detailed Seller Ratings I have the following information

Maximum % of Low stars for communication 2%
Maximum count of Low Stars for communication 3
Current count of low stars 1
Current % of low stars 0.48

From these figures I can extrapolate that if I had 4 low DSR's this would be 1.92%, below the 2% threshold. However it would be more than the maximum count.

For some sellers as few as 3 low DSR's can prove a problem and it is incorrect of you to say this isn't the case.
It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type
