Then you should have negiotated this before buying the items.

As it happens, you obviously did not, so its completely your fault.

    Not correct.

The original agreement was that the buyer purchased 4 items and paid 4 individual postage charges. In return the seller would send 4 individual items to the buyer.

It is the seller who is changing the agreement by packaging them together. The buyer is just asking that the seller doesn't make any money from their changing of this agreement. Of course, making profit from postage and packaging is against eBay's T&Cs.

They should still be sent separately then, should they not, as that is what was agreed before buying?
Nowhere on any listing does it state that the P&P charge is for that item to be sent in a separate package. All the P&P is, is a sum of money that the seller is charging to get the item delivered to the buyer.

What use would that be? How would that be better for the OP?

When i bid i didnt know i wanted and would win all 4 items. So no i didnt contact them.
Less than 10 minutes left on the auction when i remembered the item in my watch list.

One sold and the others ended with less than a minute between them. So i bid on the next 4
just in case. I only wanted one now but my item can fit upto 4.

2.5kg wont cost £15 to post. £5 off is generous, Im not feeling they were generous. Not the worst on
    ebay by a long shot.

If i knew that i would might paid for them all one at a time.

So many different views on this. The seller could have said they are already packed and ready to post
    seperately. But they didnt.

If i had sold them i would probably have knocked £10 off.

Interesting views from some people. So what would you have put the postage at?

Each item is approx 600g Possibly a little more say 650g. Listing said £5 p&p each.

What would you charge for delivery?

  • How did you ask for the discount?

You have come across as quite a demanding buyer and you didnt ask for any discount before the auction ended.

I would probably give you a small discount but these 2 things really annoy me as a seller.

Problem is that the original postage of £5 each sounds high if each is approx 600g in weight (about £3 first class post or £2.60 second class sent as packet). Therefore the reduction really doesn't seem that generous.(I don't think anyones mentioned the Paypay saving from only receiving one payment either yet)
I agree with other advise to see what the postage cost is on the box when received - leave stars and feedback as appropriate

I use Royal mail 2nd class so for me packages up to 750g would go at £2.61 so my listing would probably show say £2.75 for a single item. 2.4 kg could go as a standard parcel at £7.62, but as last posting date for parcels has been exceeded I would probably round up to 1st class at £8.95 .

I would probably consider £10 reasonable for all 4 items, maybe even as high as £12 would be reasonable if a different box had to be purchased.

Mind you I would already be mistrusting a seller who charged £5 for a 600 gramme item, as even 1st class would only be £3.05 so I would already be expecting to be taken for a bit of a ride on postage.

  • I really dont get how anyone can be "taken for a ride"

I appreciate it may be against Ebay rules however for the consumer as long as the overall price is satisfactory (which im presuming it is when you bid) i really cannot understand why people get annoyed.

Why would you be bothered about anything other than the total cost - ie item and postage. Or can people not do basic sums?

When im buying elsewhere i will look at the cost of the item and postage at different stores and go for the overall cheaper purchase.

A seller that bends the rules as far as ebay is concerned has already shown that perhaps they are comfortable with a little slight of hand- so they make me nervous as I always wonder what else they are happy to bend the rules on.

I also am aware that these over chargers don't tend to last long on ebay- too many people dislike it, so that also makes me uncomfortable- I prefer to deal with sellers who look good and have healthy businesses and will be around for a while in case I need to buy more or in case i have a question in the future about my goods. I prefer not to buy from any business, ebay or otherwise, who looks like they are unlikely to last long.

  • These discussions make me laugh.

No, the buyer doesn't have the "right" to demand combined postage, but it is certainly reasonable to expect. And the buyer has the right to mark down the stars accordingly. Everybody loses.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
