No, the buyer doesn't have the "right" to demand combined postage, but it is certainly reasonable to expect. And the buyer has the right to mark down the stars accordingly. Everybody loses.
Goo dpoint thank you.
We all sit on here and argue what we consider right or wrong- but we must all remember that ultimately the buyer is the one who chooses what stars to leave- and it's those stars that ebay use to restrict and suspend sellers. For a normal seller as few as 3 low stars in the p and p category in the course of a year can equal restriction.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The best way to stop sellers using this tactic is to not pay it.forgotmyname wrote: »Bought 4 items off ebay, Same seller for £30 in total.
Postage for each item was £5.
I asked for an invoice to pay for all at once and they knocked off a grand total of £5.
Just checked the weights from some manuals I downloaded. 2.4kg for the 4 items.
So they are charging £15 for 2.4kg + packing. A little excessive?
Thinking ...Feedback may say "Could do better..." or something along those lines.0 -
Quite often I buy multiple items from one seller who may have something along the lines of £1.65 P&P recorded delivery. Then you should have negiotated this before buying the items.
As it happens, you obviously did not, so its completely your fault.
So many times I have got invoices with no discount and its infuriating.
Why should I have to go to the bother of messaging the seller prior to bidding to make sure they dont charge me 9 lots of RD charges?
Whats more worrying is sooooooo many sellers dont seem to understand what I mean when I point out to them that I should get at least 77p x 8 (eg) discount!!!
Its not rocket science.
A buyer ought to be able to look at a listing and work out their own combined price (roughly) because sellers are not allowed to profit from P&P but often do.0 -
Problem is that the original postage of £5 each sounds high if each is approx 600g in weight (about £3 first class post or £2.60 second class sent as packet). Therefore the reduction really doesn't seem that generous.(I don't think anyones mentioned the Paypay saving from only receiving one payment either yet)
I agree with other advise to see what the postage cost is on the box when received - leave stars and feedback as appropriate
What, the whole 60p?They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
I'd be quite happy to pass the saving on - I'd have a happier buyer and its cost me nothing in effect.
I do combine postage.
I just thought it mildly amusing to mention 60p when the OP is talking about £20 postage

If you don't pay then the seller can open a NPB against you & then you would probably end up with a strike, so not a good idea.0 -

You have come across as quite a demanding buyer and you didnt ask for any discount before the auction ended.
I would probably give you a small discount but these 2 things really annoy me as a seller.
No i did not ask for a discount, Only bid on the auction at the last minute.
How am i a demanding buyer? I have not asked the seller for anything.
Except i clicked the ebay link to ask seller for a total because it didnt add them up automatically for some reason.
I just think they might have knocked a bit more off. I paid for it as soon as they sent the invoice for all 4 items.
If thats what they charge then thats what i will pay. But do i feel the seller was fair with the postage. Not really.
As my first post, Im still thinking could do better.
Will see when the item turns up.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Just read soolin's post, 3 low stars can equal restriction is that from 3 separate buyers?
I bought 4 items and dont want them to be restricted, Just let them know i thought they should be a bit fairer
on combined postage costs.
Although i would like the items ASAP, I wont be chasing them up in a hurry.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Maybe just leave stars for one of the items, just in caseIt may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0
