Combined postage, Poor show.

Bought 4 items off ebay, Same seller for £30 in total.
Postage for each item was £5.
I asked for an invoice to pay for all at once and they knocked off a grand total of £5.
Just checked the weights from some manuals I downloaded. 2.4kg for the 4 items.
So they are charging £15 for 2.4kg + packing. A little excessive?
Thinking ...Feedback may say "Could do better..." or something along those lines.

Are they sending by RM? Or other courier?
If by RM you will at least know how much they have paid
If by other courier (and a business seller) you'd be surprised how much some contract couriers charge. The company I worked for up until recently had a TNT account. Because we were a small volume sender our minimum cost was £11.87 + VAT. This is ridiculous compared to some of the low cost couriers, but represented the true cost to us of sending a parcel.
Not your problem as a buyer obviously and I agree this charge is excessive (unless there is extra insurance due to value?) but just the other side of the coin, so to speak. It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0 -
Why did you bid if you where unhappy to pay the agreed amount?0

How much did they promise to knock off?I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

Looks like they knocked a fiver off from OP. I think that is generous enough0

Because in the agreed amount the items were going to be sent separately, whereas if they are sent together than a new sum has to be agreed, one which, at the moment, is not satisfactory.gazza975526570 wrote: »Why did you bid if you where unhappy to pay the agreed amount?0 -
Didn't think sellers HAD to combine postage - I always check before bidding exactly what combined postage would be.Obviously_the_best wrote: »Because in the agreed amount the items were going to be sent separately, whereas if they are sent together than a new sum has to be agreed, one which, at the moment, is not satisfactory.
Please, pretty please!:D0 -
@ tania-jo
They don't, but combining postage means they all go in one package, which is not what was agreed to start with, they were meant to all go separately. Therefor if they go in one package then a new price must must be agreed, and if it isn't then the items should be sent separately0 -

Then you should have negiotated this before buying the items.
As it happens, you obviously did not, so its completely your fault.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
They should still be sent separately then, should they not, as that is what was agreed before buying?0

Ebay is so competitive now that any seller who tries to make a bit on postage is unlikely to last long.
So it isn't a case of whether a buyer should expect combined postage or not, it is more a case of whether the total postage paid is reasonable if seller ships all items together. . If the total postage is much higher than stamp value then a seller will run into all sorts of problems.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
