  • does anyone feel guilty, loading up on all whats left of a cheap item?

    me neither!
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)
  • I'd shout out "Do not touch me you pervert" that will see him scarper quickly.

I went to Adsa yesterday to get some calpol for my poorly laddie when I noticed the reductions section - about 8 people all hovering around like its the end of the world. This was at 11.30pm. I do appreciate that finances are tight (same here) however there is no need for any rudeness or such like.

Christ. Fair enough, we're living in difficult times but some people need to maintain a bit of dignity!

I remember once watching a woman with a bloke in a wheelchair...he sat in his wheelchair and blocked off the entire shelf while she raided it and filled her trolley with as much as she could, leaving sweet f all for everyone else...he just sat facing everyone who was waiting with a smug, proud look on his face!

I'd push the wheelchair out of the way especially when the person in the wheelchair is looking so smug. Because a person is in the wheelchair doesn't give the right to use it against other people.
  • I'm not sure normal rules of social interaction apply at the R2C section :( I've seen people put things into their trolleys first and then examine them to see if they actually need them.
  • What I really hate is when people snatch at things in the reduced section. I've seen it time and time again when I've been looking at something and someone snatches it up just in case. 9 times out of 10 they don't actually want it and end up just throwing it back . . . thus damaging the product!

They do that in the NEXT sale in hackney at xmas. grab handfulls of clothes then sit on the floor sorting out what the want and do not want.

I think you should be allowed to kick them personally...NEXT has low standards

I think I may be a reduced maniac :s It's like a competition! I get so excited when stuff is 10p! I've taken to going to less competitive shops- asda in hull always seems to be the place for other people to go so I go elsewhere :)
    I'm not rude though :)

What is it about the reduced bit in supermarkets that turns people into rabid animals?

Was in Asda yesterday and walked over to the reduced bit. Stood behind a couple of people and patiently waited my turn. A space cleared so I moved forward and rummaged through to see if there was anything worth buying. I had only been there about 30 seconds tops, when I felt a pair of hands on my hips, which then tried to force me out the way.

At first I thought it was my FIL, so calmly turned round to look, only to find it was some balding fat idiot with a look of absolute desperation and determination on his face, who then proceeded to stand where I was originally stood, and rummage through everything like a complete and utter maniac.

So I spoke up for once, and said "erm...excuse me?! You don't shove people out the way! Haven't you ever heard of saying excuse me?!" He went "heh. you were taking forever." So I said I'd been there for 30 seconds max and he should wait his turn just like everyone else has to! He then mumbled a load of gobsh*te at me and I commented about how it's so disgusting that people have no manners in this day and age and think it's their god given right to go touching women and shoving them around.

Wish I'd smacked him round the head with some reduced cheese

What you should have done was scream out "get your hands off my breasts you pervert" call security and watch him talk his way out of that.:cool:
counting down the time I got left.:beer:

A bloke in Asda once said he'd "smash everything in my trolley" if I didn't put down one of the (20 or so) reduced gammon joints because he'd reserved them all for himself. Even the Asda employee couldn't believe it and sought me out afterwards to apologise for his behavior.

I suppose that's what you expect in Asda.
