It appears that the posters in #94 and #97 think it was me that spouted the rubbish they quoted.

It most certainly wasn't. I thought I'd better put the record straight.Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before0 -

I'm amazed by the total rubbish some people spout.
I started to type a response and then thought better of it.
Don't feed the troll!!!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

Well said!!!! I had kidney failure and was on haemodialysis for 2 years before my transplant ... I am teetotal and dont smoke, but that didnt stop me getting it. My daughter and brother are type 1 diabetics and my mother is type 2 (and no she is NOT overweight), I think if these conditions are in your genetic make up, you are going to get them no matter what. Having had Kidney failure and have a child with diabeties makes you painfully aware that its nobody's fault and it just uinfortunately sometimes happens. One day hopefully they will come up with a cure for kidney failure and diabeties but in the mean time, all we have is dialysis, insulin, Tablets or if your lucky a transplant. Many of my friends on dialysis were also diabetic as unfortunately it can cause kidney failure and you certainly DO NOT deserve to be there!!! I send my love and support out to each and every one of you. Just wanted to put my point accross. xxx0 -

My mum is diabetic and until recently was buying her own needles, until a pharmasist told her not too. Thats how wonderful the NHS can be!!
However, back to the original title, it would be great to get hold of samples of (for exmaple) diabetic jams. diabetic chocolates etc (NOT medical necessitites). Mum has often purchased tthese from her own funds only to find them to taste revolting.0 -
i got my new FREE blood glucose machine this week it was only a week ago i ordered it its a little bigger than my old one but great as a spare (1 in my handbag, 1 at my mums, 1 in the car & 1 in the bathroom can never have enough, seeing i hypo a lot)0

Got mine yesterday, too. I've already got an old OneTouch meter, plus a OneTouch UltraSmart, so this fits into the collection nicely
. And they all take the same strips, too, so very handy. Thanks to Angel777 for posting the link. :A
And thanks to akabee for the free necklace link. I've been meaning to get something like that for years, but could never quite bring myself to pay for one of those MedicAlert ones. Free is something I can definitely live with! :T0 -
