Well, I finally got my switching payment 4 days after their self imposed deadline.
    £100 incentive. Whoop de woo!

It happened to arrive the same day I posted a letter of complaint. Bloomin' typical.
Still, the bulk of my letter is complaining about their awful switching service so that still counts.
Now I have my incentive though, I think I'll just switch everything manually myself. I don't see the point in entrusting those swines any further.

Do you think it is likely, if, after receiving a letter from them asking to confirm the switching details, I do no switching... they might ask for the £100 back? Maybe I'll still let them manage one of the simple standing orders that isn't too important. Hopefully it wont take them another 3 months though.
  • I too have been fobbed off. I opened up the money back current account account using the switching service so i can get the £100 incentive. I just had my second salary paid in.
I then phone them asking when I will get this £100 and they told me that I do not qualify as I did no open up the high interest account.

I then managed to get hold of the press release date which state that incentive is payable to anyone who opens up any halifax current account using the switching service. I phone halifax again and told them about the press release. The lady at the customer relations told me to write to her with the press release enclosed.

I now waiting for their reply and hopefully they will pay up.

If any of you want the copy of the press release statement. please let me know then I'll attached the link.

Result. I attempted to use the switching service however Halifax lost my form so after 4 weeks of not seeing my direct debits change I phoned their switching team and was asked 'would you like to make the D/D switches yourself?' Having confirmed with them that this would not affect the £100, I went ahead and moved everything myself.

Having not been paid when expected... I complained and a few days later Halifax are now crediting my account with £100 due to the dodgy advice given by their switching team.

I don't like the idea of a switching team changing D/Ds and contacting my employer to re-route my salary. I can do it myself within a couple of days, at a time convienient to my salary arriving and my D/Ds being collected, knowing that it's done, and I will not risk being overdrawn.

    It was to any account.

When did you pay your second payment of £1000 in? April?
  • hello mate, my second salary was paid into my account on 30th april. so it reality i should get the £100 by end of May. but got worried when they said that I dont qualify for the payment at all. I'm going to wait till end of this month before I get in touch with them again.

it never ceases to amaze me the amount of man hours people will invest to get £100. would be easier and quicker to earn it, or maybe [perish the thought] wait for it to come through?

it's an offer that can be withdrawn at any time, and is at their discretion, so any talk of an ombudsman is just misguided. especially when it's a delay and not a refusal

my transfer went pretty seamlessly. i was advised when exactly to start using & crediting my new account, so no complaints there. i think some of the delay is down to finding a 'window' clear of direct debit payments, if you see what i mean.

if you're realistic in what you expect from a high street bank, you won't be disappointed. if you phone up expecting bright and concise answers, for an account that is not really being puahed in the branches, it's not going to happen.

    £2,500 x 6.00% / 365 x 30 = £12.32 (before tax).

I've had £2500 in my account for a couple of months now, the interest paid to me has been £7.70 each month. Shouldn't it be £9.86 after tax @ 20%?

Had an easy transfer of my Direct Debits, paid in a grand for 2 months (normally by taking my wages out of the Halifax ATM, going in branch and paying it straight back in!) and was expecting my 100 quid on the last day of this month, possibly with a struggle.

Errrrr but I got £100 "cash" credited yesterday! Can't believe they have put it in early.....beers are on me folks

Ok, don't know if this is quite the right place or not, so apologies in advance, but I've just applied for the BoS High Interest Current Acct on the back of the £100 offer. I notice however on the switching forms (Bank Accoutn Transfer Form and Credit Details Instruction Form) that part of it is giving them authority to contact my employer re transferring credits. Now, one, the account I want to switch doesn't get any money from an employer and two, I don't want to move my salary payments to another account.

Hence, do I have anything to worry about and is there anything I should do to ensure my salary isn't moved but that the £100 still comes through?

    Thanks in advance.
