Yes, I think you could be right.0

I phoned up but was told I had to credit another £10 at my local branch in order for the £100 to show up. The advisor said I should have been told I could only credit the initial £100 in the branch.
On checking online today the £100 has now disappeared from my account.
I don't want a branch account, I haven't had a branch account for about 15 years. It is difficult for me to get to a branch due to my work location and hours.
What's going on? I think I'll get my money back and not proceed with the switching. I wouldn't trust them with my direct debits.
This is a complete waste of time.0 -
The current account isn't a specific internet account - it can be used in branch over the phone, in shops and internet
You can send money from another bank - which will take 3 working days to reach halifax. This would appear as a bank credit./ If the £100 went in and the application form was not back or the id not verified then the £100 would go into "clearing" as there are outstanding items
They only say about paying £100 over counter as its quicker and because it can't be credited if there any outstanding details. This would ensure the money would not get into clearing.
It is not a complete waste a time if you follow what is said. if you do it all by internet you are doing the application solely yourself - if you pay the money in the branch you can also do the switching forms at same time - simple
I thought from your other posts you'd already done that>??0 -
I'm seriously unimpressed. I applied via the internet, nothing happened. So I rang up, and went through the application all over again. I then got a letter saying the account was open and to pay £100 in. To get things moving I sent £1000 from my main current account as a transfer, using the sort and account code they'd given me.
Nearly a week later, it still wasn't on the account as they said I hadn't paid in £100 so the account wasn't open. Completely moronic system! So I had to traipse in to the branch, get £100 out from the cash machine and pay it in. Then I asked them to find what had happened to my £1000. They checked with Clearing, found my money, and credited to the account as if I'd paid cash that day at the branch.
As soon as I get the £100 for transferring, I'm closing this. The staff seem very nice but their systems are rubbish.0 -

Either way, this is some mistake. The postman could have opened my account, collected my card and PIN and rinsed the £1000 overdraft.0 -
I'm baffled. I have not been asked to submit a signature or provide ID. My letter only gave the requirement to pay in £100. I did this online and phoned to inform the transfer dept who will I suppose send out my forms (although I gave the account to transfer online during the app?)
So no id, or sig. Is this because I have Savings and a CC with Halifax and I am therefore ID checked, or will my £1k disappear like others?0 -
lipidicman, I would expect that your existing accounts with them mean they have previously confirmed your ID.
same situation with me - other existing accounts and no id required.Karma is a wonderful thing.0 -

Basically funds should not be credited to the account until all id and app forms are back0 -

sounds like you are fully id verifed but have you not received any docs to sign and return?0 -
I am also confused
Mine was open without the need for ID - they just sent me a form to sign and a signature strip. I have Halifax accounts already though.
I have so many accounts - can someone remind me if
a) They asked for the account your switching from when you do the initial application
b) they send you a form to detail which account you want to switch
The reason I ask is I can't remember (which is not unusual for me with so many accounts!) and I haven't received anything with the latest correspondence.
I believe only by switching an existing curr account do you get the £100?0
