just wondering whether i can open up another c/a with lloyds or another bank and then switch a dd from that to open up as new halifax ca??
Yes but is it worth having 2 credit scores done to get the £100. and could you fund the halifax account and the other account each month and have dd's on the new acc you will be transfering from to do this?0 -
Timmy1 wrote:Further to your recommendation re switching banks, I have had no end of trouble trying to transfer to Halifax. In the end, i told them i didn't want anything to do with them.
Firstly, then set up my account twice. When i rang them, they said i hadn't set up an account but i spent 15 minutes on the phone to a guy doing this. The lady then re-took my details but it seems they have duplicated. Now they send 2 letters each time requesting a signed form & proof of identity but they already sent me a letter acknowledging they had received all this!
I put £100 in the new account whilst i thought all was ok. They stated this was in but then deleted it & it hasn't been refunded. So they have £100 of my money which i have said i want them to find it & refund me.
I told them to close the account as i have never had so much incompetence in my life. Even their chap said that it was the worst case he had seen but i bet there are many more.
I am not surpised with the contact centre. Easier either online or in branch
I reckon your £100 has gone into "clearing" - because there were outstanding items on the bank account application - such as button not clicked to say signed application returned.0 -

I haven't sent them my signed application form, specimen signature or ID and now have my Debit Card and PIN. Despite them saying they wanted to check my identity! What do you make of that?!
I know they have checked me out through Experian though.0 -
Experian would have been the credit score
very strange about getting the card
are you going to send back your application form and id to be sure for your switching?0 -

They won't be able to start switching until all docs complete0

Hi, the £100.00 must be credited to the account before the card and pin are sent. The £100.00 is an automatic trigger. The Halifax can update the account to show that the app form has been returned even if it hasn't. My recomendation is to go into your local branch and explain to a banking adviser what has happened. They will be able to see any ID etc that has been provided and give you further details on the missing £100.00.0

This poster have received their card and pin as they have paid in the £100 - but id and app form not returned0

Hi, The app form can be marked as recd back by the Halifax even if it hasn't. The ID is a different matter. ID of some description must be inputted into the comp system to allow credits to be recd. This all sounds like a bit of a mystery. A branch is the best place to get this sorted.0

Well it shouldn't be recorded as received without and we'd get in big trouble if we did mark it as returned.
The account should not accept the £100 without id - unless it was keyed on sheets????0
