No - the intererst free overdraft is offered to customers who switch only - it is only interest free for 120 days whilst the transfer is going through..
They do have a low overdraft rate on their money back account though - so if overdraft is your concern it may be worth switching to that:D You would get the benefit of 120 days free and there-after AER of 6.9%0 -

In the meantime, in the light of what you've said, I'll open a sole account at Nat West. Thanks for going to so much effort. I wish the bank would keep its staff properly informed.
I'm one of thembut been there years, and take the time to read up on things

Anyone else having difficulties with the registration process.
Applied online - got a temporary password by post - letter says to visit https://www.halifax.co.uk/online and sign in in the "existing user" sign in area with the username you were given when you first registered in the username box.
I was not given a username, nor asked to establsih one so have nothing to type in!
Helpline said I would now have to visit a branch but to be honest they hadn't grasped the situation!
Hmmmm - do I really want to bank with this bunch?0 -

Yes you do to get the free £100.00, you can then cancel it!
I've forced various friends and family to apply online and pretty much everyone has some kind of problem with bits and pieces not coming through. It doesn't matter what the problem is, when you phone them you're always told that it can only be sorted out by a visit to a branch!
I get the impression that their call centres are swamped with applications and are having trouble processing them and want to offload some of the work onto the branches. If you insist that it's impossible for you to visit a branch, they eventually very reluctantly agree to send whatever it is out by post but you really do have to insist.
By the way, on one of the menus on their website, there's a "callback" option. This means they phone you back immediately when you click on it, rather than you wasting your own money. See here:

By the way - call centres are very happy to answer to everything to go to the branch, unless they get a sale themselves0

If you don't have any SO or DD from the account you are leaving, does that matter?
If you do need to have them, do you have to set them up so that one goes through before switching?
Thanks!By 'eck it gets complicated
But nay fret, Martin's here to save us :money: :T0
