the normal card is not a nice
I like the Ultimate Reward card too. Its not supposed to be available until Monday - oops0 -
How long do they plan to offer 6.17% interest rate; as Alliance and Leicester offer 6.1% till 30.04.08... i am unfortunately already an AANDL customer ... looks like NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY!!0

The Halifax high interest account is for both new and existing customers
The high interest account has been around for a while, but it was paying 5% and recently it increased to 6%, so this is not a new account
there is not a g'tee on the rate, but seeing as the 5% was around for a good while, I'd be taking it from there0 -
OK, after reading 4 pages of the thread looking for this answer I've got bored and decided just to ask.
There is possibly 1 SO I do not want them to transfer; anyone know of a way to get them to leave that one alone ? It's for my barclays regular saver and I don't want it screwed up.
Also, I plan to move £1000 from websaver to new current account, then back again next day - looks to me like that will satusfy their T&C's - any problems with that ?Karma is a wonderful thing.0 -
Someone else asked this question about standing order for regular saver
why not cancel on existing account and set it up yourself on the new account?
as long as £1000 hits account should be ok0 -
"When is the next regular saver standing order due?
set it up yourself on the Halifax account. Because there is an interest free overdraft for 120 days you can do this. Then when Halifax contract existing bank for list of dd's and standing orders, that one will not be present
just an idea?"
The above post was my reply to someone else on post 1670 -
The £1k has to come from outside (?) so websaver >> other CA >> New Halifax CA it is then
lipidicman - I could not see anywhere that says it must be external funds - where did you get that from ?
it might scupper my plans to use websaver money.Karma is a wonderful thing.0 -

Penny_Farthing wrote:Just in case this is useful to anyone else - I called the helpline and they said we could swap some DDs from Nat West joint to Husbands NW sole account then open 2 sole accounts with them. We could transfer the DDs from his NW sole to his Halifax sole and the DDs from the NW joint into my Halifax sole and get the £100 each.
This seems to contradict what Regularmoneysaver has said about transferring from a joint acc to a sole acc but the lady on the phone said it was fine, they just couldn't pick and choose DDs, they had to come as a lump.
We'll see.
I called the AATS transfer team today and they said that you can definately not transfer from a joint account to a sole. They said the main problem is that the bank elsewhere would not agree to a transfer, if the names did not match. Sole to joint is ok though
if you ever call again, ask to speak directly with the aats switching team, rather than normal banking line0 -
Thanks I will. I applied on the phone but was referred for a 'human' decision. Even as I was applying and explaining what I wanted to do, the woman on the phone said it was fine. In the meantime, in the light of what you've said, I'll open a sole account at Nat West. Thanks for going to so much effort. I wish the bank would keep its staff properly informed.0
