you can do the transfer forms in the branch at the same time after crediting the £100 which has to stay in the account over night to order card - can be withdrawn next day
A branch?? What is one of those? The very thought of gong into a real live branch - who ever heard of such a thing!!!;)MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -
Ok I am going for this. I will reduce my reg saver SO to the minimum and top it up manually with a cheque for a few months. This way if halifax mess up I dont lose out.
Now, can I apply for the account and the switch online. Branch said 'in branch' website seems to say you can do it there. Why do the halifax never give a straight answer
Also, the website says have your employers details handy. I want to credit the £1k manually, so do I have to give this?0 -

I applied for the a/c online. I got the confirmation in the post within a week (although the letter from the transfer dept came a day ealier than the one saying the a/c was open & giving me the a/c number etc!). I have paid in the £100 online and returned my form today that they sent with the letter in the reply paid envelope. I assume the transfer dept will then send a list of the standing orders/ direct debits etc on my "old" a/c for me to confirm I want to transfer over. I was not asked for ID. No need to step outside the door other than to the post box!!!
You do have to give your employers details but can opt not to fund the a/c with your salary. That's what i did.

Yes you will need to give the bank a/c number and sort code for the a/c you wish to "transfer".
I am transfering from a RBS (Royal bank of Scotland) a/c (the one I opened last year to get their free £100!!) I assume they just do a credit check. I wasn't asked for anything other than the normal address etc. Just follow the online application process it only takes a few minutes.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -

To quote Halifax's web site:

To help us do this you may be asked to visit your branch with further information...WebSite wrote:When applying online you will be told during the application process which options are available to you.
Further to YorkshireBoys reply...
again from the web site http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/switchingtous.aspweb wrote:1. To qualify for the £100 switching payment you must open a new Halifax current account between 5th February 2007 and 23rd March 2007. All account openings are subject to acceptance.

3. Our Switching Team must receive your completed switching instruction forms by 30th April 2007.0 -

yes you can do it online, but you need to fund the account with £100 before the switching will start
don't worry about the employer bit - this is optional should you want the aats transfer team to changes wages0
