Oh no! Confusion! My husband went in today and told them the long and the short of it and they said they could do it if we were both there to sign stuff. I smell trouble ahead!0 -

not heard a thing yet...
Have you heard anything yet? I also applied on-line and not heard diddly squit!0 -
Hi All,
I opened a Halifax account last week, choosing not to switch direct debits etc there and then. Can I still qualify for the £100 by filling out the transfer form and sending it off or is it too late now the account's been opened for a week?
Cheers.0 -
I applied online last week and today got a letter...
"thank you for your recent request to transfer your banking arrangements to Halifax Bank of Scotland. We are unable to start the transfer at the present time as your Bank of Scotland account is not fully open. You need to credit the account with an overnight balance of £100 to ensure it is fully open."
It then goes on to say I have to do that within 14 days and call them when I've done it otherwise they'll assume I no longer wish to transfer account.
Didn't expect this - anyone else had the same. I don't even have an a/c number & sort code so how can I credit the a/c with £100?MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -
Don't worry, exactly the same happened to me. I rang them up, the guy gave me the sort code and account number and I went online and transferred the £100 to them.
The implication in the letter suggests it is your fault for not having done something, but as you say, you can't if you don't have the account number and sort code. Daft!0 -

Alternatively, they're on the Halifax website at http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/switchingtous.asp0 -
Sure - I've already read these. However, I opened the account last week and phoned up Halifax this morning to enquire about switching my SO's. I was told that I'd now have to do this seperately (rather than use their switching team) and couldn't qualify for the £100.
Is the best bet to download the form, fill it in and visit my local branch to try and arrange the switching or is all hope lost?0 -

ok, well I guess it must mean I've got the a/c then so that's good news at least! Did we expect to have to credit it with £100? Don't remember reading that anywhere. No major probelm though - just wondered!MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -

Whenever you open a current account with HBOS if you are over 18 they ask you to fund it with £100 to trigger the account - this means your card/pin etc will be issued. The £100 only needs to stay in overnight to do this so you can take it out the next day if you want to.
The £100 is also required before the switching process can start.
In the branch this is explained to you as you open the account, but haven't any experience of the online opening system... The letter sent out to some people on here sounds like a standard response letter, just not very well worded!!0
