Yes but you won't receive the £1000 -
I have applied online to switch and as yet have not had any acknowledgement. Is this normal or should I get in touch. It has been approx 4 days.
thanks guys.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0 -
Give a call as even if it had been referred to underwriter it wouldn't have taken this long0

Sorry to be 'persistant' but does anyone know the answers to my questions on page 6 of this thread, please?
(I've tried to quote them but I can't work out how to do both)0 -

I'm considering moving accounts but was wondering
1 Would it negatively affect CCard type applications etc that ask how long you've been with your bank (20 yrs + now)
2 Would this be a fantastic interest rate for 6 months or so, then be pants and we'd have to move accounts again?
1. No won't effect credit cards. You will be credit scored for the Halifax account
2. No - this is called High Interest account. It is not new. It was 5%0 -

We could swap all dds from our joint account to his sole account but could I then have some of those transferred to my new sole account even though the accounts would be in different names?
If you were to transfer your own sole account and fund it with £1000 a month then you would get the £100
If your husband did the same he would get £100 too as different customers
But if you wanted to do joint, then you won;t get the £100 again as you'd already received it on your sole one
You can't transfer from a joint to a sole acc, but you can sole to joint and sole to sole, and joint to joint0 -

The answer is yes, future applications for credit - at least in the short to medium term - will be affected by the short relationship with the Halifax (if the "20 yrs + now" account being switched from is subsequently closed).0 -
ah yes, I see what you mean. Thanks YorkshireBoy
but you don;t have the fully close that account with the 20 year relationship - keep it open0 -
Thanks both
Yes - good point. We will just keep the longstanding account open.
Just to clarify further - will the Halifax accept a transfer of some DDs from a sole current acccount with Nat West (I know!!) in my husband's name to a sole High Interest account in my name? Otherwise, I'll have to go to the trouble of opening a sole account with Nat West in my name, transfer DDs from my joint account and the open a HI Halifax account. A faff, but worth it for £100!0
