Evening world
A better day and a better attitude have been enjoyed.:D:j:T
Today I received my PPI letter from B4rclays and good news, I had been awarded a full refund on my loans. Part of it had been paid off my outstanding balance leaving it at NIL:dance::dance: and they sent me a lovely cheque for just under £4000.:j:j:j. I'm still trying to decide how to proceed with the money, whether to pay off a lump sum towards the balance on my DMP or to use it on the house. We have single glazing and it's freezing during the winter. It would be so nice to have 93% of the debt paid off instead of 75% but warmth and saving money on utilities sounds good too.
Who would have thought having a bit of money to do things with could cause so much confusion.;)1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Am not sure why it is JUST you that needs to save for carpets. Doesn't OH live there too. Is there a reason he doesn't contribute to this, or the running costs of the car, of utilities? Are you both paying a fair proportion of the household bills?
good luck with your decisions ref the money. I would save at least part of it as an emergency fund.

Thanks for your replies.Could you put money towards debt then save for windows? Good you're doing well with debt.
This is probably the way I will go, we have lived with drafts for years so can cope for a little longer. I thinks it's because I grew up in a house with no double glazing or central heating(we do have this) and the ice on the inside of the window thing. I don't want my little fella to have to grow up like that. I worry about people being cold.Am not sure why it is JUST you that needs to save for carpets. Doesn't OH live there too. I tend to write very badly, not too good with words I'm afraid. DH has paid more than his fair share of things over the past few years and is just about the get the re-wiring done its very, very old. We do both pay our fair share of everything.
I just feel it would help my confidence to do something without having to rely on anyone else. It would be good to feel human again, not so flipping useless and lumbered with debt.
An emergency fund is a definite, I have never had one and it will be one goal partially reached. I still haven't decided about the rest. I think I have turned into the woman from Open All Hours who could never decide what to buy.:rotfl:.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Ah sorry to get the wrong end of the stick. Enjoy the emergency fund.
Is the DMP self managed? Or through one of the free DMP charities? If the former you could offer a full and final settlement off to one of the debts and use some of the money for that.

I can confuse anyone chevalier, it's something I am good at.:)
My DMP is with payplan so I'm going to speak to them about using a big chunk of the money to pay off some more debt as a one off payment. I haven't been in that position to do it before so need to find out if that's ok.
Y the way I love the picture of the bunny. I keep saying I'm going to get the little one a rabbit but to be honest it's probably more for me;).
So a big day for me, I will be off to the post office soon to pay the cheque in. I have also decided what to do with it on e it's cleared. So the plan is...
New glasses - this is desperate after the Friday night incident.
Pay off a debt to family member - I really want to get this done as they haven't pushed for it and I appreciate their help. It's taken a long time to repay.
Emergency fund started and will be added to
The rest will be going towards another chunk off the debts.
Right I'm going to update the snowball now and see what my new DFD is. Whatever it says I want it all paid off by Dec 2013. I never thought I would say that.:D1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Oh dear I spend so much time sticking my nose into other posters diaries I don't get time to get onto my own.;)
A quick update....
I wouldn't have thought having money to pay off debts would cause my little brain so much trouble. Anyway after a few big bills paid, and a few due (why does the car tax and insurance renewal always come near to Christmas) I have a chunk of money to put towards debt. So I'm going to go and log off here now and transfer it to Paypl4n.
