  • Still feeling strong - though ill - feel very sick - Sam was fine this morning so went off to school upset that there was no snow!!!

Had 2 e-mails from my Mum this morning but just delated them without reading. She can't phone me from work so will probably get a phone call when shes on her lunch but I wont answer them.

Though I am feeling strong, I do not, as yet, feel up to speaking to my Mum - that will come in time though I suppose. Just small steps at first and when I feel up to it I will speak to her but not until I'm ready as I don't want to fall apart again.

I have read through the whole of this thread and cannot believe how supportive people are - especially when it not a debt problem - its gives me faith. I'm going to print it all out and file it away just in case I feel weak again, then I can read it and realise just how wonderful people are and how much they care and that I am not alone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Wow. I've just read through this thread, and I have to tell you: I think you are an amazing mum. Sam sounds like the most incredibly caring and thoughtful little boy, and a real credit to the two of you.

Judging by what's been posted about your mum, I think it's even more impressive that you're so good at parenting considering she obviously isn't much of an example (sorry if that sounds harsh!)

Good luck with everything - it certainly sounds like you're doing the right thing!

Hi Weller, sorry to hear you're not well....take care in this horrible weather.

Don't worry about not being ready to stand up to your Mum yet - the point is, YOU are now in charge, and YOU can decide when you are ready to do this. In the meantime, let hubby protect you from her - get him to answer the phone etc so you wont end up speaking to her by mistake before you are ready (it's not cowardly to avoid her for a bit....it's what the doctor advised me to do when I was going through something similar with someone I was close to).

It's like being hit over the head every day......first, stop it happening, second, continue to not let it happen for a good few days so that your head heals, third, only once your head is feeling better, go and deal with the person that was hitting you in the first place!

Good luck with it - I'm so glad your son is feeling happier (it was great parenting to let him take his new boots to bed lol :)), and your daughter sounds adorable!

Hi Weller! Just popping in to say Hi! Glad you've put your foot down with your Mum, it's up to her now to change her ways if she wants to see you and your amazing little ones.
Hope Sam's loving his new shoes and that it snows where you are so you can all play in the snow xx

    Dear Lisa

It's now less than a week since you started this thread.
Already you have taken control of your life.
You are couragious. It must have been hard to deal with your mother in this way - but you are in control now. You have the support of those near to you.
    :A :T I admire you.:T :A

  • Wow - what a week you've had!

I just want to echo the echoes of everyone who has already said that you are a fabulous mum and you're handling all this very very well.

Andy sounds like a really good man. Let him support you and concentrate on nurturing your mental wellbeing. I suffer from depression - spent a month in a pyschiatric unit last year - so I know how black it can be. Just stay focussed on all that is good - your fabulous hubby and beautiful children - and don't deal with anything you're not ready to.

Keep your chin up and us posted!
