Hi
Parents evening went fine - very pleased with how well Sam is doing - we talked about his Stats and the teacher is going to put him for Stage 3 - didn't know much about them but understand thats good???
Andy went to see my Mum tonight and it didn't go very well, we didn't really expect it to. She says its Andy stopping her from coming and seeing the kids and that he has never liked her (well, that bit is true). There were tears and she couldn't understand why we were going to hurt Sam in this way by stopping her seeing him. Andy was calm and explained it all and said she wasn't going to get any more money from us and she said that I owe it to her cos she brought me up and has paid for holidays (when I was a child) and all the Christmas presents she had bought etc etc. Feeling very sorry for herself and she tried to phone when Andy was on his way home but I didn't answer - i don't think I should 'cos she will only start playing her mind games. She said that most mothers take all their childs wages for board when they are living at home (she took half of mine) and don't we think she deserves something back after all the years she has put in to bringing me up!!!!!!!!!! The mind boggles
Anyway Andy home and all is well with our little family though when we came home Sam had pooed himself and has a temp and looks very flushed so don't know if he is coming down with something. Hope hes not though I love having him at home so don't mind if he needs to stop at home just wish he wasn't ill. Then we could play all day - yipeeeeeeeeeee, never mind.
Thanks very much for asking, how did your parents evening go?
Feel better today, slept like a log last night - must have been all that Baileys - I just don't know when to stop:rolleyes:

Hi lisa, I have just caught up with this thread.
The tales of your Mother.........oh.my.God. What can I say that hasn't been said already?
She sounds like she needs a bit of help actually. You *owe* her money for holidays as a child, Christmas presents and the like? Words fail. What planet is she on?
As for the "I'll get Social Services on to you!".....yeah? Bring it on. Does she realise just how pathetic that sounds? She will probably try to use that line over the next week or so. And when she does, just laugh at her. It really is pretty laughable that she thinks she wields that amount of power.
Lisa, it must be quite hard to hear a lot of strangers slagging off your Mum after all, she's your Mum. However she's behaving (as you know) terribly!
She's going to kick up something chronic so be prepared. But all she is, is hot air with an unhealthy dose of bitter poison gas thrown in too. Do *not* let her get to you!
Big hugs to you sweetheart.

I agree with LA - but as I've said before, I believe she does need help and this might just be what tips her to asking for it.
In the meantime, you have your own kids to look after - just as she looked after you and you can explain this to her. Tell her that you're doing exactly what she did for you and that you don't expect anything in return. I wonder if she helped her mother out in this way? Maybe put this to her too, but gently?
You're not on your own in this struggle any more. Your husband sounds very supportive and it must be great to be able to offload some of the stress onto him.
Your mum has a tough lesson to learn here, but learn it she must. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
