Oh joy. I had a nice little flurry of sales yesterday :j :j, but the money has been wiped out as I've had to buy a new battery for the netbook :( It's not the main computer but it's a handy backup to have, particularly when I want to study with the online resources so although I could have waited, I've got a lot coming up so thought I'd better do it now.

At least I don't have to find the £25 I suppose.

Excellenty on the sales - and great that you could get something you needed too :) And very organised of you too to get something in advance - i'm terrible at leaving stuff to the last minute :o

I've managed to squeeze out a small pad of £5 today so £45/£1000 - £955 to go.

Dontcha just love it when you mess up the postage on an ebay parcel and wind up with 13p after postage but before fees?

That's not my worst though - I sold a boxset of books to Australia, I think I paid them about £5 to have them :rotfl: I had put postage of £9 on, but didn't expect for a second they would sell abroad so I didn't really check properly as it's not an uncommon set. I think the postage came to about £20

Well done on the pad :T

Ouch! on the postage though - think its something we've all done :o I'm having to do a refund for the non-received item today :( so will put my claim in with the post office - i know that i can put the claim in but its annoying having *something* else to do amongst the million and one things i have to do already :o

    Hello EBay experts

I am getting a little confused about posting stuff. If I get proof of posting and something under £46 goes missing can I claim from the PO? Or do I need to pay for special tracking postage? The PO staff have now confused me utterly...I just really want a signature so I can assume its been safely received,

BTW jwil the lady I thought might open a dispute cos of what her courier said when he collected ( it seems she was obviously a trader).. Hasnt done so and the item went on 7 March so think it must be all OK. Phew.

Yes, if you get proof of posting and it's under £46 you can claim it back from RM if it goes missing. You refund in paypal then put the claim to RM in which generally takes a few weeks.

If you send it recorded delivery you are still only covered up to £46 but it doesn't update online all of the time, so in the event of a claim you will lose a paypal claim if it doesn't update online, and also RM are unlikely to pay out if it shows as delivered on their system. That makes it a waste of time so you are better posting standard post.

If you *do* want a signature, then Special Delivery is the best way to go, or a courier with online tracking.

To be honest though, I've only ever had a few items go missing, so I just get the proof of posting. If it's valuable though, it's definitely worth covering.

That's great news about your item though, what a relief :j

To be honest, it *is* last minute, as I need it for my course which I'm doing now. I was trying to use it, and it highlighted that I needed to get it sorted so when one of the chaps on the techie board pointed me in the right direction I just decided to go for it.

Grr to having to put the claim in, it's so frustrating

Excellent advice from Jwil, there. Just wanted to add that proof of posting means nothing once the item leaves the country - so if you are posting abroad, find a different way of insuring it.

It's still ok if it's less than £46 though, you can claim for lost international items. Any more though and look for a different service.

    Howdy everyone :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

We've had a busy busy day today sorting stuff out :T :T :T A couple of boxes ready for booting, a few bits ready for ebay and a bit of a tidy up.

My netbook battery has arrived today, super quick! It has solved the problem too so all is well in that world :T
