    Hey all,

Picked myself up after my moaning of the last couple of days, and just got on with things.

I've made a payment to my loan, and had a look at the finances for next month. Not looking too bad, but could still do with bringing some extra in, particularly as we have time off work coming up.

I've listed another 31 items today, so fingers crossed some will sell. Need to get some more on soon as well. I've got an assignment due so I need to be working on that as well.

My new plan consists mainly of selling stuff - I've got so much to clear, it will really help as I get that done. I'm going to list a load of my books in the hope that people who are buying for reading lists at college/uni might want them.

I've also picked one credit card that I'm not going to allow myself to use any more. The card is set up with a DD, so I'm going to pack it away and not use it. I still have 'permission' to use the other ones if I *have* to. Once I am in a better position, I shall do this for another card, and cut up the first one. The idea is to reduce my reliance on them, and as I free up some credit I will cut them up one at a time so I can't use them again. It won't happen overnight, but I'm hoping its a way to make more progress.

  • Sounds like a good plan you've got jwil. I don't know how many individual debts you have but would it help to choose the one with the lowest balance so it feels as though you're making headway.

Thanks retired :) I've got several :o. The card I've picked to lock away is one with a middling balance, so hopefully that will go down anyway. I think it's one that pays off more than 50p with the minimum payment anyway so hopefully that will help too.

The one I picked to target first is the highest balance, but the one that affects me most. It's not the highest interest - my lowest balance is. Maybe I ought to target that first really  I don't know.

Morning everyone, TFI Friday, and even better, payday :T :T

I've been working for almost 4 hours now _pale_ so am starting to feel it. I got drenched this morning too whilst surveying and I've got wet feet. It's going to be a long day.

    Hope everyone is well :)

Hey jwil, It is hard choosing the right debt to target first isn't it ? I certainly didn't target the highest interest one first - as that was also my highest balance and was just too daunting for words :o so i set about clearing one of the lower balances - although not the lowest based on the fact that it wasn't the biggest or second biggest debt etc. it was an amount i could digest i.e. i felt to get to that amount paid off was not unachievable. Of course the other debts were coming down bit by bit as i did this and i did get a little boost when i'd paid one of my several debts off :o This year alone i had 7 debts at the start of the year - i may have been in double figures last year for everyone i owed  I'm also probably going to pay off target 5 soon which is interest free. Target 7 is not interest free :o my reasoning ? I owe £1500 to target 7, once i start working on 1 debt i work on it completely until it is gone and then start on the next debt (obviously keeping up any minimum payments). Also it'll be easier for me to work things out - sounds silly when i've had over 10 separate credit cards o/ds etc. that i;m struggling to balance 3. Part of that is where my mind is at at the moment though.

Thanks DDFW :D I keep changing my mind about what to target. I need to choose one and stick to it.

I'm definitely starting to flag now. Only a couple of hours left thank fully :D

*sigh* one of my ccs is putting up my interest rate. It never ends does it.

Oh well, I've got til the end of August to see if I can get a bit more organised, then I can reject it and close the account until it's paid off.

Chin up, Jwil, you're doing a fantastic job. :T

This cc could be the one you decide to lock away then, couldn't it?
