That's great news - many congratulations
I'm so excited for you. We'll be popping in for updates you know!

Congratulations on your news. One REALLY important thing, if this wasn't a planned pregnancy is to start taking folic acid straight away. You should take for at least the first 4 months I think. It helps to protect against neural tube defects, so get OH to go get some today if you don't feel up to it.
I agree with others who say babies don't need much. The ONLY things I bought new was a car seat and a mattress for the cots. Everything else was second hand, or free. I had two good friends pg in front of me, and they gave me their baby clothes. I literally didn't have to buy any clothes for 18 months:D:D. Cots well there might be one in the family you could borrow.
Nappies two ways to go on this, either start saving for cloth ones (saves a fortune on disposables) OR if you really can't face the idea of washing nappies (I'll be honest I couldn't), then once you have your dating scan, start lobbing the odd pack of cotton wool (for wiping babies bum, they don't NEED wet wipes!), nappies etc in the weekly shop when they are on offer. That way you don't have to stock up (and fork out) all in one hit.
Also don't forget to sign up to all of the baby clubs, like netmums, bounty, boots, mothercare etc. They give you vouchers off and samples once bubs is here, so that all helps too.
You will be fine, honest:D
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Huge congratulations on the pregnancy :j
As everyone has said, you'll be amazed by what you're given once people find out you're pregnant, you'll find you have almost everything you need for the first few months (it's when they get to 3 months old you suddenly realise they have nothing to wear!). I found sucking boiled sweets helped with sickness, especially sour tasting ones.
Good luck with everything :T0 -
Hi all
Jwil - such fab fab news - i agree with P&F we are all virtual aunties- I have PM'd you so hopefully you know how thrilled i am for you and mr jwil :j:j:j I did also post a reply yesterday on here but i have done one of those wonderous things of posting it and confident it was on here and today its not - i;ve done this in the past and feared my message would be there randomly on someone else's thread
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
You have got lots of good advice here - and from chev too - what a great idea to spread the cost out for things
It is nice reading good news on here for people
I don't think i have anything exciting happening at the moment - urgent house maintenance job being done this week - and needs paying for  And chasing up the other people on the carp job that they did  At what felt like the crack of dawn i did an assessment - in fact several - telling me my maths is rubbish and some of my IT is too:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Actually i'm not bothered - i know if someone reminds me of the formula etc. then i'm fine but considering i've not had to find the value of x for about 20years when i had a carp teacher who didn't explain anything either i'm not fussed. The IT is the same - i don't build databases or spreadsheets but once i'm learning about them i remember everything
So i'll be fine
Oh, exciting money news is that last month was the final payment to the ou module so i'll not be paying out for that each month :T And a few of my re-lists have bids so that is good news too
I am however having to keep an eye on my credit card that i paid off - the moneys not come out of the bank for 1 payment so the balance is not yet £0 - if its the same come friday i'll just have to do the payment again - Grrsome! but never mind.
Oh yes, I also feel like i could sleep for a week but have to get up early every day - i can't remember when i had a proper undistrurbed lie-in :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hope everyone else is well tooCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
i've got grandchildren ranging from 17 months through to nearly 20 (yes that's years) so I could be a virtual nana :j:j0

Hi all
Popping in to see how everyone is doing
I am not doing too great to be honest - i am completely rubbish! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Very tired - exhausted evenHad the worst couple of days in work so i returned to my usual pattern of going out and comfort shopping
 I am not sure if it makes it any better that i didn't just grab anything and pay but i bought things i do actually need (discovered when decluttering my wardrobe) especially as i have been living in leggings and baggy tops as my weight gain means such alot of stuff just doesn't fit
So i bought a couple of things (not tried on as yet) and made sure i could return the items for a refund too. So we will see. Must admit though it will be nice to have a pair of proper pants that actually fit so i feel ok in them if that makes sense?
retiredandskint - i can't remember if i said that my other suggestion was if you did a carboot and put the bigger item on there ?
p&f - how are things with you hon ? I have such a hectic week again this week - they all seem like this at the mo. and at the same time not getting anywhere fast - hoping at some point to see a change in the house or anything for that matter that'll make a difference to running around and getting nowhere fast and everything still seeming the same
jwil - hope you took the advice and have had a nice rest xCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
Hey everyone
Thank you all so much for the support and advice, you don't know how much you have made me feel better.
I've got the docs tomorrow so can ask a few more questions then. I'm feeling a bit better now, and have managed to eat a little so that helps too.
I LOVE the idea of having lots of virtual aunties and a nana too"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

I don't really know what to do with myself. And OH is being a complete t****r tonight.

Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the fact that nothing in the garden seems to be growing, maybe it's because I'm fat, maybe it's because DH is still unemployed and drinking like a fish, maybe it's because some b*****d I work with is full of carp, maybe it's because I can't help having panic days about money and have a sense of impending doom. I feel very low and restless and generally dissatisfied with life.
