  • Things have a habit of sorting themselves our jwil so try not to worry too much. I'm not up on maternity/parent rights in jobs as things have changed since my day but I'm sure there's others that can advise.

I'm sure everything will fall into place. Its doubly tough without family around to help. I had some family ,although help wasnt quite the word, more of a hinderence to be honest !!! :rotfl:

I was back at work in the City within 2 weeks of having DD1 , Mr Pinot went abroad for 4 weeeks when she was only 5 days old, but somehow we muddled through, I think some kind of weird coping instinct kicks in that we never knew we had before. When DD2 came along, Mr Pinot arrived home the morning of the birth, was gone for 12 weeks when she was just 2 weeks old and I had two businesses to run by then and a 3 year old, but again we muddled through. Still muddling actually 14 years later............ but I wouldnt change it for the world !! :D

Its early days so you have plenty of time to think things through and work out action plans and sometimes you may need to just deal with things in the best possibly way that you can when and if they arise.

You will be fine I'm sure ! xxx Oh and Vitamin D is for nice strong healthy healthy bones :)

Will post my ebay question later xx

Hey jwil - as everyonehas said - things will fall into place for you :)

I am sure you have done / will do but i'd get a pregnancy book and read up on it - my friend is pregnant and she saw a midwife and had to ask them all the details like getting booked into classes and stuff. I guess its like anything it depends who you actually get - she said if she hadn't read the book and knew about these things then nothing would have been sorted out with that particular midwife and they are seeing a different midwife next time. They don't actually live near me so this is just the info. i got the last time we met up x

Well done on the sales and the payments :D

WOW WOW WOW!!! So pleased I have looked you up again lovely jwil...what fab news. Congratulations to you both. Agree with the others good wishes and advice. My suggestions are to rest when you can, ginger nut biscuits if you feel sick (ginger is meant to easae nausea) or blood sugar drops and yes try and eat sensibly!

A car booter like you will be FAB at getting all the stuff you need!

Just remember we are only just up the road so shout if you need anything!!! Love the idea of being a virtual MSE auntie!

PS Reading what Mrs PG said, yes when DD2 was born and about 6 weeks old OH went abroad for 6 weeks. Horrid. But you cope. And you may well get neighbours etc surprising you with good wishes. babies are a great icebreaker! Wearing your dressing gown all day and looking desperate also generates great support from complete strangers in my experience ! :-)

That's fine DDFW, just make sure the address is correct.

    Thanks everyone.

I'm really panicking about the finances at the moment, it's not so much the baby thing. I looked up what SMP is, and don't know how we will cope. We need both our wages to survive, and that's without childcare.

I don't know whether to batter the debt down as much as possible, to try and reduce outgoings, or just pay minimums and try and save some.
