As it's free listing this weekend, I've popped a few things on ebay. Will try and get some more done later."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Hi jwil - its only a decision you can make i think as i haven't been in that position. I do think you need to make sure you have enough to survive on and with just the minimum payments being paid what the actual minimum is that you need each month. whilst you are on maternity leave. Do you know how long you will get on full pay etc.? I would asume that your work do child care vouchers for nurserys so well worth a look into and a huge money saver is my understanding so that is good
And you will receive child benefit to help with the costs
No idea what everyones wages are but there is child tax credits too isn't there ?
I think it would be a good idea to jot down your income for when you are off and then check this against outgoings to see what the difference is - remember you won't have the same travel costs which will help and other things will have changed by then like ouCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -

Thanks DDFW. It seems I will lose £1k a month, which is a huge amount  I don't get any full pay, just statutory which is 6 weeks at 90% pay then 33 weeks at SMP which is something like £135 a week. That will cover my half of the house bills and not a lot else. I hope I can figure something out.
I can get childcare vouchers so yes, that will help."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
I've been very ill again today, but have still managed to get a few bits listed on ebay so that's good.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend
There's lots of flooding around here, so it's been a pretty miserable day here. I think tomorrow's meant to be better though so possibly some booting in the morning."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hey jwil, sorry to hear you've not been too good today, try and take it easy x
1K is indeed a huge amount but things will sort themselves out - lots of eb*ying and booting will help too. Hoping the PPI claim will be a massive boost for you xxCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
Jwil - you cant do any more than you are doing and you have a few months yet.
If it were me I would try and have a 'baby' pot and still crack on with the debt busting.
I had a claim with MBNA for PPI and they rejected it - I sent it to FOS and have been told they will now pay outDont know how much it was a credit card and not even sure exactly how much I paid:D. Its slow process though - been going on since Jan
Hope the sickness passes soon for you x0 -
Hey all
Quick post from me before i head out in the pouring rain to work Bleurghness! I've not been around on here too much these last few days - couldn't resist going out in the sun on saturday and have then been just too tired to do anything muchI need a bit of a wake-up call and to get my rear into gear - these debts aren't going to pay themselves and i worked out yesterday that i had only managed to pay an extra £10 off current target so far
The thing is i really have run out of things to list to sell and anything i am deciding to sell now is all just stuff for pennies. I really am thinking about returning some of my new pants / jeans just so i can pay the money off debt but then i think about when i am going to wear those and i've no other pants / jeans to wear that actually fit me at the moment so then i think well its not too expensive for 3 new items i'll wear alot... Getting to the stage where i'll just be happy to clear target 6 this month never mind the spends for hols or the £100 significant gift or the money needed for the job that needs doing
jwil hon i popped on anyway to say i hope you are well and feeling better and managing to eat okYour sig is looking amazing
Missing your posts xx
Hope all is well with everyone else tooxx

When you can find time, sit down and work everything out. I think if I were you, I'd be inclined to save money now so you have some kind of top-up fund when you are on SMP. Also, you will be entitled to Child Benefit so apply for that as soon as you can after your baby is born. It's just over £20 a week so not a huge amount but it's something.
Have a look and see what else you might be entitled to.
And relax - it'll all work out.0 -
Hi jwil I hope you're feeling ok. I've found this on the Internet hope it helps
